    Under 11' 8" bridge.

This semi-truck trailer was nearly split in half when it struck the railroad overpass at 5th and Brady Streets at 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 26. No one was injured in the mishap. The railroad overpass on Harrison Street is notorious for "eating" semi trucks, but other bridges in the Quad-Cities like this one have given trucks problems as well. The accident I posted with the big picture happened yesterday 3/16/11. Davenport Iowa.

Then the paper's website had link to a collage of accidents that happened there over the years.

That looks like US61. There are warnings all the way back to I-80.

Where do they find these drivers? It's scarey, drivers this dumb are on the road.

When asked that very same question, the drivers response was,

"I was sexting with my girlfriend and took my eyes of the road for just a few seconds."

I don't care if you had your thumb up your arse, or texting, or looking at a map HOW in the world do you miss a clearance sign on a bridge deck that low. Heck I could tell I'm not gonna clear it even if the sign wasn't there. There are warning signs all over quad city heading towards 61. I just don't get it.....
