Have a Cobra 29 LX LE and like it a lot. Looking for a new C.B. for my pickup, and may end up getting the same set up for my big truck. I have been working for my buddy who has a Cobra 200 big radio with a bunch of fins on the back bottom of it and like that radio too. Will a 29 LX LE with a RFX 75 add on get out farther than the 200? I am not sure if the 200 is stock or modded because it has a bunch of fins on the bottom. I do really like the way that the LX LE works, expecially the screen setup and the scan feature. Help me out?!
Cobra 29 LX LE with 75RFX vs Cobra 200 10 Meter Radio?

I put fins on my Cobra 18 and it went swimming from a mudduck radio to a big maul radio.......

I have a Cobra 18 in my old pickup, worked surprisingly well stock with a 2' firestick. I didn't know they had a big aftermarket. I have heard the term mudduck before I just don't know what it means, but I am sure once I do I would appreciate your sarcasm!

That is a mudduck. -
I would get a KL203 and run that before an RFX75, and I would run RFX75 before I dumped money into a Cobra 200. They look sweet but there is more bad than good with those radios. The flawless ones are few and far between.
Big_m Thanks this. -
I was kinda wondering about the 200's, For such a spendy radio that I've heard it is I am sure having a tough time getting it figured out. After a quick search on that KL203, is it as simple as 12v hot and ground, and coax in and coax out to the antennas?

I used one on 10 FM it worked JUST FINE but my new amp is homemade and 300+ watts ....

The Cobra 200's (150's also) have a VERY HIGH failure rate. That's why Cobra dropped them. KL-203 amp is a great lil' amp. For about $60 it can't be beat.

If you put a RFX75 on your Cobra LX LE, it would eat a Cobra 200's lunch! Cobra 150's and the 200's did have allot of problems, but I think the main reason behind Cobra deciding to dump the radios was because the FCC cracked down on them for having features not accepted by the FCC for a CB Radio.
If it were me tho...I would leave the LX LE like it is (maybe have a Variable Power knob added) and buy something like a Texas Star 250 or 350 Amp (or larger) to go behind it...KM Amps are "OK", but not screamers...To get that "BIG" sound your not going to see it out of a KM Italy Amp...ain't gonna happen...
