    Hello Everyone,

Well it has been a little time since I have posted. Finally over the flu, if that is what it was. My Dr. told me not to even bother comming in since he could tell me over the phone what was wrong, and he said that it was a type of Flu.

Just returned from the terminal. Felt good to get out of the house for the first time in a week. Well, attended some more meetings this morning. Got my truck. I was really hoping for a Volvo, and ended up with a Freightliner. But, it is a Blue one, a ex O/O, 250K miles, Columbia with all of the options. The only problem, as far as a CB, he got the power wires almost all of the way back, so it will take a little work to re-wire. All in all, I am happy with it. Also know that it is just going to be temp truck until I turn L/P. Theyn did not bother to put in the new QC. Did see the new one, and did like the way that it was set up. As far as GPS, I did see that it is the NAVgo system. It is sweet.

Also, my DM, also only temp. She is just filling in for now. She used to be a DM and moved into Safety, and now back on the DM boards for the new drivers. I was told that within 2 weeks, I will be getting moved to the one DM that mostly handles the L/P's, at least that it was that are planning for me.

Well, tomorrow will start my journey. They know that I need to try and get to Phoenix as soon as possible so that I can meet with IEL.

RT, if you see this, that Volvo 780 is still sitting there. It is a sweet truck. Not sure why. The shop told me today that it is a 09, with 160K on it, and that raises a red flag for me. Looked at again today, and it has all new drive tires on it, so new, the ##### labels are still on it. What bothers me, a previous 09, and 160K, either he was in the shop all the time, OR, he did not want to run

Everyone, take care and stay safe out there.

I'd be requesting the service records on it.

    Hello Everyone,

Well, it has been about 1 week now, and let me say, I am starting to worry a little already. We are off to a shaky start. My first load was to Manteno for K-mart and after delivering it, I have been stuck in the GLR. Did not ask for it, just happened. So far I have had 1 350 mile load, 3 200 mile ones and one 277. I have a pplan to pu Sat morning, 680 miles that delivers Monday in NJ. My DM is trying to get me able to T-call and get something longer over the weekend. Do not think that it will happen, so for 6 days, abt 2K miles. Not a good start, especially wanting to go L/P, and they want to see that you can handle 12K month. I know that there are some that will say, Hey, give it a chance, you are new there, and they want to check you out. Well yes, but it is a 2 way street. They are checking me out, and I am doing the same. Not a newbie here. I can normally tell within 2-4 weeks if it is a great match or not.

Speaking of L/P, right now I am not sure of that. After leaving voice mail's and QC msgs and no replies, it tells me that they are really not that interested. Imagine running your own business and you are looking for customers, and they are calling you, and you do not return their calls, how long would you be around. Yes, they have been around for some time, but still.

Well, for now, we will see. My temp DM already knows that I am not a very happy camper at this time. From delivery this morning until picking up this pplan, sat for 5 hours, and the clock started to run this morning at 6, and typing this, it is now almost 3, and I have 200 miles to get it there b-4 8 tonight.

The only good thing that has happened, when this truck was turned in and they made it a company truck, they did not turn it down. Still runs like a O/O truck. YEEHAW.

    be safe everyone

Well here it is Sunday, and sitting in Del. Gap. Could not t-call. After I get MT in the morning, have to take the trailer to our yard there in NJ. The driver that dropped it at the customer did not bother to write up the 2 broken hinges at the bottom of the left door. Was able to get one fixed on the road, but not the very bottom one. Now just have to hope that when I get to the yard, they have another MT ready to go, or a decent load siting and ready. I highly doubt this with my luck. Probably get stuck shuttling some short loads. If neither of those two, then sit until this one is repaired.

Final miles for my 1st full week, 2100. I think that alot of this is due to the fact that I really do not have a "DM". She is just temp for me for 2 weeks, like a trainer to see how I am doing and help in areas that I might need help. The end of the next week I am supposed to get a permanent DM.

The temp "DM's" usually handle a group of drivers...they are just better prepared to "help" newbies. My temp guy handled the local drivers at that time...but he was good at taking the extra time to fix newbie mistakes...qualcom was a real difficult time for me...lol when they think you are ready you will be assigned a new DM...or possibly stay with your temp...same rules apply either way. good luck

Thanks, was told that she will only be taking care of me for 2 weeks. She mostly handles the "newbies" that just came out of a Mentors truck and starting on their own. For me, it is just mostly seeing how I do on the QC. My temp mostly handles the log classes, and is in Safety. She is just now getting back to dispatching for now, helping out, I think until a new one is trained. There is a chance that I will be getting the one DM that handles the O/O, L/P drivers, since they know that this is the route that I am possibly going, and it will save me time changing dm's later, plus he can run me like a L/P from the start.

Did John ever get back with you? I sent in a QC msg to him and tried to call a couple times. He may have been out of the office. Normally, he's pretty good about answering his phone.

Well, the second week is finished. Finally got my new DM. Had a long talk. Also a talk with the FM and really did not like what I was told, and that the majority of the freight that is comming out of the Columbus terminal is going East and NE and SE. Alot of the west freight, well that goes to the drivers that come from the west and that it is to get them back to the west. Do not like this at all. After 3 years of East and SE, burned out. Miles for the 2nd week, Friday to Friday, a little under 2K. Take care everyone and stay safe.

So anyone out of the SE would pretty much expect to stay east?
