I also got my one year in and stopped in at little rock. All I had time for was a quick visit in to see my new fleet manager Allen, swap out two ratchet binders, and get my truck washed...and off I was to Ok!

I for one thought that Curt did an excellent job as a trainer and runs a first class training program. I also believe that he is passionate about what he does and will help anyone 24 hours a day!

Jim you may have hit on this already at some point. How would you rate your overall experiance with Maverick and the trucking industry. I would be interested to know how your wife feels about you being gone so much. I am your age and in good physical shape. I was concerned whether I would be able to do everything that they ask you to do during the orientation period. How did fare through it all?

Thank you for your service. God bless you and your family

Jim: Did you look at TMC. If you did why did you choose Maverick over TMC?

Lol. i know that guy, AC,ex navy? hint hint. you should've handed what he dished out to you right back at him, matched his tone of voice and volume too and just before you went toe to toe with him, winked and smiled. He's like that with everyone for some reason just like some old swabbie that had to take a buncha feces from officers.

As for blackhats that think they are better than anyone else and feel that it is their job to inspect everyones stuff and then walk away and call safety without offering to help fix it: For any Maverick driver that is treated with disrespect by some blackhat on a power trip. Ask him to help you fix whatever problem he sees with whatever it is he felt important enough to mention to you and when he refuses to help. tell him he has a choice, to help you fix it, LIKE HE IS SUPPOSED TO DO, or as soon as you get back to your qualcom, you will send a free form message to your fm about the blackhats unprofessional behavior, the choice is then his.

Unfortunately, Maverick has a saying, "once a blackhat, always a black hat" Your example of unprofessional behavior by one of the blackhats is why i think that should be changed. I am one (blackhat) and help everyone but because of the bad reputation that the idiots you described have given the blackhats, we're more like blacksheep. Avoided, people stop talking when you walk by thinking your'e going to eavesdrop and tell someone and some even announce your entry into a room with a loud, "shhhhhhhhhh, there's a blackhat." I only wear mine on the yard because i'm told i'm supposed to. Shortly after getting mine, i put it on and would wear my maverick boonie hat with my mpg pins on it so the bill of the blackhat was still visible. Mama Kay said that someone (blackhat & black leather jacket too probably cause he's the only one i saw that day) had said something to her that to cover up the blackhat that way was disrespectful to the blackhat. I removed my boonie hat and asked mama k to tell him to come to me next time and let me know how he felt in person rather than go and tell someone. He still has yet to say anything to me.

Im sorry for ranting about this but im sick and tired of the bhs that think they are better than someone because they have egg whites on the brim of their hats. Once again i beg of anyone who reads this to do what i asked earlier. If a bh approaches them in an unprofessional manner and does not offer to help fix the problem that they felt it so important to come over and tell you that something was wrong they are not doing what they are supposed to be doing, helping, send a message with his truck number describing what happened. Maverick does not need bhs like this and they are the ones that should get a call from JC, not you from safety.

i agree with you, curt is a ##### wrinkle and i am not going to assume you are drunk or uneducated or dyslexic like others on here i am just going to assume that maybe you dont speak english so well but thats ok you got your point across. there is one thing i need to tell you though there is no point trying to complain on this board about bad experiences you had with maverick because the 5 or 6 guys on here think maverick is the answer to every drivers dreams, when in fact they are all laughed at on the road but they dont know it because nobody can ever get them to answer their cb radios. you can fight anything on your dac if it is put there wrongfully but i also quit the right way and maverick didnt put anything negative on my dac as i know of. maverick probably is the right company for these guys here but thats how trucking is....some companys are for some drivers and its not for others, depending on where you live or your fm. the company i am with now is definitely for me i make great money and benefits and i am home on the weekends but i live in their preferred area, like maverick told me i lived in their prefeered area but i couldnt tell it from being hung out and not getting any miles. that just goes to show that big companies like maverick will tell you anything to get you to come aboard, which is why i steered clear of them until i went to maverick, but they proved me right in my reasons for staying away from large mega companies. good luck to you in getting your dac cleared and getting with a company that fits you, hang in there.

How come you refuse to name this company that you work for? This is the second time that I have asked.
I in no ways think that Maverick is perfect or the answer to everything.
I have been very honest about my experience since day one.
Funny how every time I pass a Mav truck and call them on their radio they always answer.

I again restate what I said about Curt. That training program was one of the best run programs that I had ever been in. I have worked for Fortune 500 companies and they were not run as good as this.
I am very new to trucking so I tell it exactly the way I see it and from the eyes of a Manager, and Sales professional. I also have a Real Estate License, so I am not some nit whit just spouting the company line like you suppose.:biggrin_2551:

I did look at TMC before I ever knew Maverick existed. I think I got turned down because I was honest about a question that was on the job application that was online.
It turned out for the best as I believe that Maverick is more driver friendly based on my conversations with TMC drivers.

I would rate it an 8.5 out of 10. My only issue that I have had from time to time is that I do not think that the CSR's look at how many hours you have left before they send you a load assignment. Now when I get one, I call my fleet manager and just tell him that it will not work for me because of my hours of service instead of getting upset about it.

My wife found it hard at first but it becomes the new normal.
I am switching to a dedicated run here in Ohio so I should be home some during the week as well as the weekend.

My bills are paid for and I am not looking over my shoulder for the person to come foreclose on my house. I am very thankful for this job.:biggrin_25519:

They have done everything that they said they would do. They fix my truck when it is broke, they get me home when I request it and they have kept my rolling and making decent money compared to the other companies out there. The equipment is excellent and I believe I am treated with respect.

I was not aware that you were a black hat. I know that you are not like that at all.
Pollack says I should be happy that ac is not ever going to talk to me again!:biggrin_2559:
