Looks cool, the same conception as Volvo FMX in Europe.

Why it happens? All other truck makers do not want to use engines they do not make. International uses Navistar and MAN engines, Freightliner uses Mercedes and Detroit Diesel engines, Paccar - Paccar engiens for European DAF and US KW and Peterbilt, all Renault, Volvo and Mack trucks are with Volvo engines painted in defferent color...

So CAT and Cummins loose their market. But they will not discontinue on Highway engines. They'll build trucks. Cat is the first. So Cummins will do the same soon. In Russia they purchased pie in Kamaz trucks, they do the same in China. Seems to me they will start building trucks in US and EU soon

Talking to the guy at the Cat exhibit there it sounds like a maintenance nightmare. They're buying credits instead of dealing with emissions concerns which will inevitably drive consumer cost up. Sounds like the motor is some Cat + Maxxforce ####### child so the parts could get tricky but Cat does decent with making such things available in their other arenas. I actually liked the look of the truck but unless this thing is being produced in massive numbers I just can't see it working out for Cat.

definitely not the most aerodynamic thing out there though. Really just hard to know what to expect out of this thing.

looks like a paystar with a diffrent hood on it, aero is not that big of deal in their target market, the real gem of the truck will be the CAT trans. not the motor

It's got a CAT badge, people will be talking about it as if it was the last Cocca Cola in the desert, cat followers will pay $20,000 more for that international and will argue that is better than KW, Petes, Macks and Ineternationals, If you don't believe me got to the Heavy equipment sites and see what they say about cats new machines that have not been tested yet and they will justify the extra money with the paint color, I will hope it works for them specially for International.

Exactly what I was thinking. Not hard to tell that's an international with a different hood.

seems to me the better way for Cat is to purchase any small company, that had an experience of making trucks and move its experience and technologies.

The same way is to save Cummins.

I was at the Con Expo show and it's way more than just a new hood. Once you sit in the cab you'll realize the amount of Cat DNA that went into this 1st model. Visibility and safety were stressed very hard! They should do well in their targeted vocational market segment....they state they already have a relationship with 70% of their prospective buyers( Cat construction customers and Cat truck engine owners) so watch out bulldog, Pete, and KW.
