Any hints or suggestions for orientation. Is there anything I need to bring besides what the paperwork told me to bring?

Look in the New Drivers, section. There is a docked thread "Packing List for Students" and check that out. Keep in mind that you will be sharing a very small space with your mentor, so don't pack the whole house.

Also, find my thread in the Swift forum "New Folks, Listen Up!"

    And welcome to the team.

Good lord, they still have that place up there? That's where I started out of. Probably in a different location by now though.

Not to mention a sense of humor... if you can't laugh at the silly bovine output that gets thrown at you daily, you're going to be climbing the walls quick!

I can put up with anything, patience is not a problem(3 boys 6,4,2). Looking forward to the challenge and constantly learning. The hardest part is the unknown and how little control I have starting out. But like everyone here says it is what I make the experience.

Oh, and as for bringing stuff with your mentor, don't bring cans of soda. Stick to bottles with the screw-on tops for stuff to drink.

Finished up orientation on wed the 6th. Got to get o mentors truck right away at 5:30 that night for a 7pm pickup to deliver to romeoville. I chickened out driving right away, was worried about a 9 speed and double clutching ect. Should have just drove kicked myself the whole time. Live and learn. Picked up a load at 11 thurs morning and this time I drove to cadillac mi. The only thing that stinks right now is we can't team drive until 50 hours of drive time between us and we are on a dedicated route. Its gonna take all of 6 weeks to get my 240. I can't complain about the opratunity(spelled wrong) I am receiving.
