thought I would share my recent encounter with a little one (car driver). the official situation is that the car driver failed to give way to me (police report). My view of the situation is that she failed to give way, but why? well my thoughts as a 20 year+ truck driver is that she may have been trying to get accross the intersection before i got to the intersection, the problem is that I was travelling at the speed limit of 60km / 35mph and when i was approx 25m / 80ft from the intersection she took off, I was loaded with about 13t / 30,000lbs of freight so i was not able to stop in time, but lucky for her i was able to deviate enough to hit the rear of her car and not hit where she was sitting, otherwise i really think she would be dead. her car had a ally tray on the back which ended up on the other side of the road about 15m / 33ft away in oncoming traffic, the chassis of her car is bent and twisted, the diff is bent and the wheel is buckled, and the very rear corner of her cabin was also hit and damaged. my bull bar was bent and i could not open my bonnet to check oil/water/etc, so i had to use a large shipping container forklift truck and chain to it enough to access the engine area.

If you were in the U.S. I'd almost be tempted to say it was intentional looking for an insurance settlement.

Hopefully she learned a lesson. I used to love country back roads. Now people just do not respect the trucks so I tend to the slabs more.

no, the cops were good about the whole situation, but it was a pretty straight forward clear cut accident, in that she failed to give way. so from a legal aspect it didn't matter what excuse she came up with, because at the end of the day she failed to give way. the only way that i could have been found negliant would have been if i had a blood alcohol reading or if i was speeding, neither of which i was. So all i got out of it to date is lost time that i didn't make money and extra work having to straighten my bullbar and fix my spotlights, and also the headache of chasing insurance, all because of this car driver. :biggrin_25510:

Nice job in minimizing the accident. Hope the moronic 4 wheeler learns from it.
