No words left...just the lingering sadness that I never had a chance to meet the man, but feel like I knew him (at least somewhat) through Dino's posts.

Condolences and prayers to the family (of which you are a member, Dino).

I only came on-line this evening and just dino's latest posts... and here I sit now with tears running down my cheeks feeling the loss of this man who I met only through his posts and an occasional PM on this forum. He worked hard, made no excuses, and willing offered assistance to those seeking guidance. You can't ask for much more in a man... and I admired his no b/s, straightforward manner.

We knew this day was coming. I just didn't think it would hurt so much... :biggrin_2557:

Rest in peace, SP. You will be missed.

My tears have flowed a few times today, Ducks. No matter how much time one has to prepare for the end, it never makes it any easier when the time does come.

Today we all have lost a fellow comrade in our business that we all share.

As we are out there doing what we do,
Each of us will remember the man differently...
I'm sure all of us will continue to remember SP tomorrow and thereafter for some time to come....

God Bless you Mrs SP and keep you. You're family to us just as your husband is; so drop in whenever you feel like a visit. I'm sure a lot of the younger, "first time" trucker wives would appreciate info on how you "trained" SP so well.:biggrin_25525:

  10. Ms. SP, sincere condolences from my family to yours. It's never easy, but that's due to what a good man SP was. The best ones are, of course, the hardest to part with.

At least we can all know that all those loads in Heaven will be loaded, hauled, and delivered properly by a true veteran of the road. A REAL professional, a REAL owner operator, a REAL trucker, a REAL knight of the road.

Another mentor lost, but I'd say he definitely left his mark on the industry through his presence on this forum and his mentoring of Dino. Of course, all of us who wanted to learn needed only to read the posts of the likes of southernpride.

I can't offer you very much that will help to ease your pain, but I can promise to do the one thing all truckers can do...operate my truck and business to the absolute best of my ability, in honor and remembrance of men like Mr. southernpride. A tribute of sorts. I may never be the driver that those were who came before me, but I'll do my best to try and that's thanks to veterans like SP.

Remember drivers, truly good hands like southernpride are riding with us. Do your best to make them proud. It's an honor to do so. Remember who's looking over your shoulder every time your wondering what you should do next. Let's all do the ones who came before us proud. Don't do anything you wouldn't do if they were in your jump seat, because who knows, they might just be there in spirit!

God speed to southernpride. Another legend, mentor, and true trucker called home to travel God's eternal highways.

We're all traveling the big highway together, some got dispatched earlier, some later. At times it seems so long and tiresome we're ready to quit, but quiting is for losers, and just not the way of a true trucker. When I started I had many young friends out here with me, but now many of them are up ahead of me and made their destination as I will soon do myself, I hope the drivers behind us appreciate the front door. Got to go for now Souternpride is trying to give me directions into this last reciever, wall to wall and tree top tall. R I P.
