Sitting here in Guyon, OK. Load will be ready sometime today. Probably this afternoon or evening.
I have a 34 complete at 2145.
Did the math and can leave tomorrow morning and deliver on time comfortably.
Now I wonder if someone in dispatch will decide to make me uncomfortable!
At least I'm back to driving during daylight hours. Was beginning to worry about silver crosses and wolfbane with all those night runs lately.
Stay safe everyone.

Hey this is nothing against Stevens Transport at all because I have heard nothing but good about them....but how on gods earth can you guys stand going that slow? I mean if the pay was alot higher that would be cool but from what I have heard they dont pay anymore then any other large company. Please let me know how you do it. Just curious to how you drivers feel about there speed rules

I talk with a lot of drivers and I was an O/O with my own authority 20 years. I know about mileage.
I can absolutely tell you that speed matters.
For every mile per hour you slow down between 70 and 60, it translates to about 1/10th mpg.
I too travel around 57-58. I have run the same routes with about the same weight in the same truck at different speeds. Speed does matter.
Like the other guys say... it translates to about $200 per week more in my pocket.
And in today's trucking world, fuel economy is tantamount to success.
I don't mind the slower travel. Less stress. I never watch for cops anymore.
The way I look at it, I'm out on the road. It doesn't matter if I'm parked in a truck stop or driving, I'm away from home.
What does matter is the money.
I'd rather spend a little more time on the road, and less time parked, but have more money.
Just my two cents worth. -
Well to each is own. We are not here to argue. All I know is that I get the same mileage going 68 then i do going 58. New engine technology makes this possible. Watch the videos that Cummins has out and you will notice the speedometer is at 70. So if the engine manufacture runs that fast obviously it would seem like the way to go. But thanks for your imput. I will always learn a new opinion or fact everyday -
It also has a lot to do with the specs of the truck other than the engine. Stevens obviously has theirs spec'd for the 58-62 range. I know of another O/O with a new Cascadia that has a sweet spot around 68-70mph. I do agree with Emulsified about having less stress and tension cruising down the road at 60ish, but out in Montana and Arizona it can feel more like 35mph.
Do you ever grow tired of hearing " Hey Stevens, ya got anotha f*****g gear in that tranny?!" -
