yeah it is a #### shame what has happened to my home state--wasn't to many years ago--if a man even said he was gonna hit you--you just knocked em out--just for the threat--and there would be no penalty at all--and if he(or someone else)was dumb enuff to call the law--they would have laughed at him and told him he got what he deserved--and then told him very sternly if he wastes their time again--there would be consequences--course that was when we were still a SOUTHERN STATE--

i stopped for a cat nap at a pilot--was in second to last spot--and the last spot was on the curve so it was small---sure enough--wake up and some guy has parked beside me--then angled his cab so his miror was in front of mine---knocked on his door no answer--nobody home at the next truck--an o/o
so i waited a bit--did my paper work--cleaned up a bit--went in the pilot--nobody around for that truck--beat the door---never did find out if he was sleeping or not--but i kinda grabbed his mirror and well adjusted it quite a bit so i could get out

In Louisiana in December, a guy was being a jerk about moving his truck to a nice teaming couple, both in their 60s, at the Pilot in W. Monroe. As the man of the couple was arguing with the younger driver (that was blocking them), I made eye contact with the wife and got the look of "help, please". The older gentleman had asked the young guy to move into a space, since he'd already blocked them for over 30 minutes, and they were running air freight. The younger guy was in his truck.

The guy had already said "F (the whole word) you, old man" to the old guy.

I went up to the guy and said "Dude, you realize you're blocking these folks, and whoever else is behind them?" It appeared that he was making his bed. Seriously. That, and putting his laundry away. He said "What the F (the whole word) is it to you?" I said I was just a concerned citizen, and he should give a #### about what he's doing to other people's schedules. He said "I don't have time for this". I replied "Dude, move your truck, or I'll call the cops". And........ his response was "You do that and I'll whip your a&&". I walked back to my truck and got my mace out of the door panel... all the while I was walking away from him he was yelling "F (ing) (feline word/female gentials)"...

I showed him my mace, and said "I'll give you one more chance to move, and then your day is going to be ruined". He again reiterated his "kick my a&&" threat... I chuckled, knowing it'd be hard to whoop someone when you can't see or breathe. I maced him.

I then called the cops, explained what I did, and a W. Monroe PD officer showed up. I had my driver's license, military ID and FOP membership card ready.. the officer looked at them, asked me to stand over there>>>

And the only people he really talked to was the older couple. I brought up a water bottle to clear the radical guy's eyes. The officer flagged another driver (who was in the fuel lane) from the rowdy guy's company.. and got him to move his truck into a space. The rowdy guy was arrested for disorderly conduct, the officer took notes on me and the old couple, and we all went about our business. The folks at Pilot got a neat little bit of entertainment.

I'm here. This thread really took off.

The reason I asked is I read another post, I think from American Trucker, where he had this happen at a truck stop recently.

And I think at least another of the same thing by another driver.

I just figured with some drivers being bottom of the barrel and a general attitude of people treating each other like crap in this country nowadays, it would be a common thing. Seems like it rarely happens, which is nice to hear since the job is hard enough on drivers and families.

Cute story, but if that would have been me in your shoes, I'd have been the one going to jail for sticking my nose into business that wasn't mine. Then again I don't have a military ID, FOP card and assuming you're female I ain't....lol

I guess the question I have is.....was he blocking them in a fuel island or parking space? Either way he was still being a d**k!

I'm not female... and he was blocking the fuel island.. and after eating while stationary, he decided to put away his paundry and make his bed... as if he couldn't have done that when he was done for the day.

And as for sticking my nose into someone's business.. when does the "its not my problem" epidemic end?

This nice old couple were trying to do their jobs, make money, and stay on a schedule - I've been on that schedule, and some idiot holding you up an extra 30 minutes can make or break the run.

I'll always "stick my nose in" when it comes to someone being picked on, bothered, harassed, or whatever. I've paid my dues and earned the character and honor (and bravado) to stand up when needed... I've lost a fight or two in my day, but usually, just calling someone on their BS stops the problem. This time, it didn't, but we're all ok.

People pick on others or act like jerks because they don't have self-discipline, and can't understand that theor actions cause a problem. Since THEY can't see it.. and their victims can't or won't do anything about it, someone has to.

I wasn't sure if you was female or not and personally didn't care.

There is no arguing this guy was an idiot and IMO needed a good butt whooping. You entering in this situation was a kind thing, but instead of helping you made it worse. Not to mention the couple was probably really behind on their schedule after everything happened and havin to wait and fill out police reports.

Now I won't assume anything else I'll just say this...... Just cause this idiot threatened to kick your butt, doesn't mean he was going to. As with most who threaten, nothing really comes of it as they are all talk, but how are you or anyone to know, right? So anyway, instead of you just ignoring the statement you threaten back with using mace. So the encounter escalates.

Now what happened here I have no clue, but if you walked back over and this idiot got out of his truck and approached you in a threatening manner, I can completely understand you macing him and him going to jail. But if you walked back over and climbed on his truck and maced him, they took the wrong person to jail..... sorry.
