You have more patience than I have to hear a 35min phone call from leasing. If you do not like May, you have other options. Melton truck lines and JBS carriers are two that are better than May. May charges for idling and I am against it. Melton is flat and JBS is reefer like Trans Am. Good luck and keep us posted. Be safe and keep your chin up. Time will fly in these two weeks.

Here I go with TransAm Trucking!

in bank when i left prime after 11months i could not pay rent i was young and naive then but lease deals can be all most impossible to survive. They may force you to repair anything on the truck when you turn it in which could be very minor and was all ready there when you picked up truck be very careful. -
It is really unfortunate about what TransAm does to people. I have bumped into several TransAm drivers in the last year that came on and leased a truck. Every one of them has had a rotten experience. I have heard of sad cases like this for years and years, but I never really heard it first hand from so many drivers that are with the same company.
Sad thing is, there are a lot of O/O like myself that are really doing well as of late. My revenue and net are both up substantially since the first of the year. Sure is a terrible thing that so many others are getting the shaft at the same time. I average around 2800 +/- miles a week, home every weekend and holiday, two weeks off a year, and my Net for March was almost $8K. I only do loads that keep me in a roughly 600 mile radius of the house. Quite a few times, I am by the house a couple of times during the week.
It is downright criminal for a company to take advantage of those that are not experienced enough to know that they are about to get it dry. I never really gave much thought to TransAm over the years, but I have a solid image in my head now.Last edited: Apr 13, 2011
Gears and Panhandle flash Thank this. -
Is there a single benefit to being a new driver and choosing to go the lease route?
To the OP, thank you for sharing your story. If any prospective employer tries to get me to lease I will politely (and firmly) decline. -
Nope, not a one. They try to tell you how much more money you'll make but..... assuming you do get consistant miles and can make your payments all the time, you still have to factor in all you taxes and blah blah, and then you might make a couple of hundred more dollars than comapny drvrs. -
I intend (once I finish CDL school) on working very hard for whomever hires me... in their vehicle -
let us know how you make out

Do me a favor please. Once you get out of school and go with a trainer, make sure he/she really trains you!!! Make sure you learn how to do a proper pretrip, and if you find a problem...... GET IT FIXED!!!!!! Don't leave it for the next guy. I am far from being the most knowlegeable person out here but at least I take care of my own problems!!!
Sorry for the rant there but had to get another tlr fixed today. Sure am getting good at finding air leaks.BBradUMA Thanks this.
