Don't get your hopes up for a new Pornstar. Or any new truck. You will get what is on the yard. I am happy with my non regen "07. Raising Hell with the mechanics can get you fired. Just reject anything that isn't legal.
A recruiter cannot get you a truck assignment.
Don't be surprised if you don't do the full training period.
Watch the attitude. Bite your tongue, and grin and bear it. Trust me I was a hot head without being autistic. Especially when I was your age.
Get your experience. If you want to stay OTR you could switch at 6 months. At your age longevity at a job is important looking at your work history. I may end up staying at Swift for 2 years to land a great paying local job.
I messaged my DM yesterday about regional, or shuttle.

Got a call from my recruiter to attend orientation next Tuesday in Ocala. I am all set and excited. I did mention I would like to meet her and her boss Scott whenever I pass through Phoenix. I am very excited and grateful this is happening.
KHSpacecoast, tazaaa and Rotten Thank this. -
Great news! Good luck to you! Keep us updated!
The Challenger and Spacecoast Thank this. -
Glad to see you didn't give up KH! I haven't been able to keep up since I was in.Millington. I am out with my Swift mentor now. So far Swift is a FANTASTIC company! And while I haven't talked to them much, I have to thank Texas Nana and Injun for their posts, otherwise I wouldn't have looked at Swift. And to our other member Millinton is another world! But listen to the instructors, I had all 4 work with me. But they got me through it. Don't listen to the complainers they will cause you to fail.
The Challenger, Injun and Texas-Nana Thank this. -
Well I am here and will recommend that an existing thread be merged with this one. Overall I have a good feeling and my roomate watches the same shows I do. I gave him the 411 on orientation.
Edit: For people coming to Ocala here is some information on places to eat providing you can bring your own car:
The nearest Publix Supermarket is on Route 27, one exit north of 352 which is where the Travel Lodge is at. Turn left and head west for a mile.
Nearest food joints:
Wafflehouse is across the street.
Steak n Shake is off route 200 going west.
McD's and Wensy's are Route 40 going east. From the hotel go straight on 40 and its on your left (wendy's and mcd's.
Note: Swift will reimburse tolls and gas up to what a greyhound ticket would cost from wherever your going.

Thus far my experience with Swift has been good. The people are nice and there for you. This is one of the better outfits. I know many think of Swift and think negative things. This is not the truth. I got SENT HOME because I made three bone headed mistakes on the road test. I told A, one of the safety guys that I presumed Swift had a no fail road test wrong!!!!! We had an experienced driver fail. I wont go into any details and ask that know dont mention it. Rather than getting paid .35 I think he said, he will go out with a mentor and start at the bottom.
Let's face facts: Swift is being real picky. I mean real picky on how they do things. In Ocala Swift will work with you. On the way back to the hotel, I told the driver/safety person I got really nervous. He told me to tell him when I go back to test out solo. He was cool and made some good suggestions and told me I was a lot better than the ones that usually fail or in other words, never put him in danger where he would need to pull the spikes. He did say I have lots of potential and was tired of seeing me here. I dislike big groups but love learning. Note: Everybody going to Swift will be Road tested unless you have not had your license greater than 90 days. If so, be prepared to do a PTI and Road test. A is a real funny guy.
So when I got the news, I called injun. I felt out of my zone. She suggested I call my recruiter. I did and asked what millingtons requirements were?? You meet them she said. Well I am going on the 25th with Tazaa. Just as I was leaving for home, my dad called me up and confirmed I was going to Millington on the 25th. I am taking a big step in my life with accepting this responsibility and now I see what it is like to do things on your own. My dad is porud of me with the way I handled things. I never called him for once in my life to set things up.
Thanks Injun and others for supporting me. It's nice to be sent home only to find out some greater awaits you. I was floating on air on my way home.
