One thing that I would like to know, the terminals that have company stores with hours posted, why are they never open during these times, and I mean Cols and Laredo. I think that Phoenix would be open all the time. Also, when I was in Orientation, one thing that we were told as far as complaints, 800-2Swift2. If it really works and if everyone that had complaints called this number, would that start to get the attention of someone, like if everyone was calling about the Lancaster Shop, or the problems regarding the CA terminals that I have been reading about. Instead of complaining on the forums or sitting outside of a terminal, call the number, or again, is it really worth it.
Swift drivers, sound off

Yeh....as if Swift is a union shop.
The way I'm beginning to see it: Everybody knows certain things are paid and certain things are not. You wanna be paid for orientation? Great! Pick up your own lodging and transportation, then. When weighed against what you would otherwise be paid, you're getting a better deal...and don't have to pay taxes on it.
Don't want to change a light bulb because you're not paid to? Cool! Sit for a day to get into the shop for it and lose a full day's pay over 5 minutes ($1.67) worth.
Don't want to sweep out that trailer because you're not getting paid to? Fine! Leave the trash and filth in it. Just don't whine when you pick one up in similar condition and your next load is Budweiser. You'll clean it out either way. And still not get paid for it. Why? Because it's just as much a part of running the load as opening the doors and signing paperwork. Oops...not getting paid for that either. Guess the freight will just have to stay where it is. Oh, changed your mind on that, eh? But you have to scan in that paperwork when you're done. Oh! Can't do that! Not getting paid for it....
This is ridiculous!BigShrek72, scottied67, JimBob24 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Then that is why the trucking biz is in the state it is in.scottied67 Thanks this. -
When I was in the Carpenter's Union, I had to go to the union hall for classes periodically. I didn't get paid for the classes, but my career, working up through the apprenticeship levels, was advanced.
When I was a firefighter/EMT, I had to take documented continuing ed classes in order to keep my certifications current. I was not paid to do so and in a few cases, paid for the classes myself.
This is no different.BigShrek72 Thanks this. -
If you sit around thinking about all the things your not getting paid for...then I would say the writing is on the wall.
Injun, scottied67 and BigShrek72 Thank this. -
When I worked for Lowe's I was paid by the hour to sit in the training room on the computer. I was paid for orientation. I had to do periodic training, guess what? I got paid for it. My first driving job had a defect in the crane on it. I got paid hourly to take it From Naples to Sebring to get it fixed. I even got paid for my waiting time. And my main bread and butter with that job was being paid piece rate. I got paid by the board, bag, and bucket to deliver drywall and plastering materials.
My brother works for the Keys Aqueduct authority. He gets paid to go to school.
Rationalize it any way it makes you feel better.scottied67 Thanks this.
