When I went they moved students around to try to have two in each room as soon as possible, Swift gets charged by room occupied so they try to use as few rooms as possible.

So far so good! We start the shifting range tomorrow. Not looking forward to double shifting. But then again I was not looking forward to parallel parking. But I got it down pat. So far the instructers that I have had have been great! They have a lot of patients.:yes2557:

Well finished school! My home terminal is Dallas. I start with my Mentor thursday. I'll be out for 240 hours of OTR training. I really enjoyed school. It was great. Lawless was wonderful. He had to work pretty hard on me. I failed my driving test on the first day but passed it the next. But all that matters is I have my CDL now. And I have to admitt it feels really good! A lot of ups and downs but I never gave up.And my instructors did not eaither. that says something about the school.:biggrin_25525:

I see you recently started at Swift. What do you think of it so far? I live here and am considering getting into driving long haul. I've not contacted Swift yet to get their info. Are they the best option for training if your unable to pay your own way?

:biggrin_25513::biggrin_2557::biggrin_2557:I think that they have a really good school. You will learn a lot. But now that I am a solo driver for them it sucks. While I was out doing my OTR training with my mentor it was great. I made her a lot of money. We did not sit at all. We did not play hide and seek with the empty trailers. We ran constantly. Good long trips lots of miles. Now that I am solo with them. I have spent more time sitting and looking for empties then I have rolling. Thus chewing up my 14 hrs. Not impressed with Lancaster.

Am I reading it wrong or do you have to pay the $3,900 for tuition up front? Kind of confused on that matter. Could someone that has been there recently let me know please?

The school costs 3900 + 500 for the hotel if you decide to stay there for the three weeks. You have the option of paying for it all at once beforehand or you can do a payroll deduction with Swift.

Once you go solo, the hotel cost is taken out at $20 every week for the next 25 weeks. This is not reimbursed.

You get 37.50 taken out of each check once you go solo to go towards the school. After 13 months, 1950 will have been paid back. Swift then forgives the other half of the loan, and will then reimburse you that 1950 they took out each check over the next 13 months at 37.50 a week. Basically, go to the school, work there as a solo driver for 13 months and your financial obligation to them is finished. Work there for 26 and they pay you back all the money you spent on school :)

    jtx87 Thanks this.

Okay thanks I was wondering how much it was for the hotel too. Well its gonna take me a few months to get my probation paid off but I plan on trying to get into the school next spring. I'm hoping the recruiter was telling me the truth and investigations will let me be hired.
