How dare you question me?!?!
But since ya did....
Changing a light takes a minute, maybe two. Sweeping the trailer takes about 5. Chaining takes at least 20.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but we don't log anything that takes less than 8 minutes, right? But anything that takes more than 8 should show on our log book, right? Right, right right? Huh? Huh? Right?
Swift drivers, sound off

I NEED A SECRETARY.....hey Shrek....wanna promotion to secretary from CSR? -
AND...show me in the company policies where that is stated......sorry you won't find it in either one!
It is "advisory" information about logging any time to chain on or off...however location needs to be on the log...since it did take over one section of time off the log...
However company policy does state that anything job related to the truck, the trailer, or the load...needs to be logged as Line 4, On Duty Not Driving. There goes your less than 8 argument!
Are you really going to argue with a Senior Mentor? -

As far as logging, wait until paperless. As far as chaining, many times DOT or State Patrol is in the area. Pull into a mandatory brake check area and get out to check your brakes, and DOT is there, I think that you will want to show on line 4. Now also as far as chaining, I remember years ago would chain to go up and then down donner, and the roads were mostly slush and wet snow. Found out later that they were having the drivers to this to help break up the ruts and packed snow and any small ice patches on the road. Many times I had to come down Donner with one side of the tuck and trailer in the breakdown lane so that could save some chain
