There's a citgo with a large parking lot off I 80 exit 122 in IL that you can park at if you can't get a spot at the pilot down the street. DON'T DO IT! There's no sign posted, but the ############# come out to your truck and wake your ### up to extort a $10 parking fee. Hence my being awake and pissed off right now.
do not stop here (minooka, IL)

I just fuel at Minooka and leave usually. But, I have, don't know if you still can.... Coming out of the Pilot, you go right and turn left to go to the red light to get out. Instead of turning left to the red light, turn right. Go on down that road there are three new warehouses at the end. The one on the end was vacant and I slept there many times. The other two have banker hours. If your desperate, you can get some sleep back there.
If that don't work, go back to the light and turn right, go to next light and turn right again. I think that is where your Citgo is??? I think there is a McD's there at that light. Anyways go west about a mile (parallel with the interstate) and there are some more active warehouses with no guard shacks or security. You can park with the other trucks there and nobody knows different.scottied67 Thanks this. -
Take I55 south one exit to US6 - go east and you'll find another small Pilot with parking out back.
Exit I80 at x130, and if you go north to the first (?) red light past the highway, you'll see a Sam's Club on the NW side of the intersection. Turn left here, go just past the Sam's Club to the driveway behind the building. You can park behind the Sam's Club, or the next building north - that one is a vacant Walmart. -
Condo, I used to park at the first of those warehouses. It was vacant for a long time. Last time I was there, it was being fenced in and gated. Bummed me out, because it was a quiet spot.
But, if it is being placed in service, that means freight.... -
Thank you all for the advice. Its always a pain in the ### to get a spot out this way. Maybe there won't be such irritation next time. I hate being woke up.
JimDriv3r Thanks this. -
The Citgo is north of I-80, come off at 122 westbound and turn right instead of left. They didn't take EFS so I didn't stop there again. It doesn't work out much that I have to stay in Minooka. Better places abound.
The Pilot down I-55 first exit south of 80 is left off that exit, cross the Interstate and it's to the right, but you can't legally turn left leaving it when I was there so you are to go east and turn north to get back to 80; you get back on at 130. Eastbound, it doesn't matter much, but adds a few miles and about 15 minutes going westbound.
Abandoned tends to end up blocked off sooner or later, and many places have security, maybe not yet, but that can change in a moment, so you can't always count on parking at a place you have used before.Last edited: Apr 23, 2011

The fact that it's a Citgo is enough for me not to stop...
THBatMan8 and I_HATE_MINIVANS Thank this. -
I always parked at the TA in Morris. Only takes 15 minutes to get up to Minooka.
-
Better get to Morris early these days. The rest areas in between normally don't fill up until about 10pm, though.

I slept at the shipper two days ago in Minooka
