You're right on with that statement.

From what I've read, cattle emit more greenhouse gasses than all of our trucks combined. What I'd like to see is one of those tree-huggers try and stuff an EGRvalve and DPF filter up a bull's ###.

EPA 2012? You must be refering to Locomotive and generator diesel engine requirements. There are no more EPA deadlines yet regarding on road diesel engines. EPA 2010 is the last one for trucks until they dream up something else. Now CARB is a different can of worms.

    So anyway..........
How does the MX 485 run?
There must be enough of them out there that have run side by side up a mountain with the ISX or the C-15 to know if the torque is there to compete.
I see the 389 is now offered with this engine, and I imagine the W900L will follow.
As fuel remains high, it may be time to look at something new to replace the big CI engines.

I heard at the Cat shop that Cat and International are working together on the solid urea idea.

should not take to much work since urea comes in a solid pellet form anyway

Urea crystalisation is not a big problem. Water helps)

i guess the ammonia cartridge they where working on didn't pan out, but a solid urea cartridge, just wondering it must way alot less then the SCR system which is around 300 to 400 lbs aint it, if those maxxforce engines hold up and the new 15 liter arriving this fall will blow freightliner out of the water

I believe that the driveability of the new Maxforce 15 will be horrible at best. Fuel mileage will not be what other manufactures are getting and problems will be rampet with them. That is just my thoughts. I test drove a PAccar MX 450hp. It has good torque, no probmlem climbing hills. The turbo on it was very loud. I liked it, but the fuel mileage was not as good as some other engines.

What is the cause of and what are the driveability issues of which you speak? Have you already drove a pre production engine or is this an educated guess? I'm not being smart with you, just honestly curious.
