I put on the Pittsburgh power muffler under bunk on my truck and while accelerating they aren't bad the jake is just too loud. I thought they would be something middle of the road to get more free flow without being too loud but they are as loud as straight pipes to me. Is there any other free flowing muffler that is better on the decibels?
And don't get me wrong I love the way it sounds but I don't feel the need to act loud and proud in my rig I got a pickup for that that doesn't have a company name on the side nor is getting used for a professional use.

you need to make sure whatever u use has a high enoungh flow rate, i used donaldsons that flow at 2200cfm and they have a good noise level. im with u on the whole overly load exhaust, im in the truck for up to 14 hours a day and like the quite. (they have good sound just not over the top on noise)
SHC Thanks this. -
Yukon do you know the part number of that muffler? I have been considering buying one myself and dont want to end up with one thats excessively noisy. I like stealth mode these days...

what you said is so correct, I find them exactly as you discribed, glad im not the only one that feels this way about very loud exhausts. have a great day mate, and enjoy the tranquility. LOL -
Don't know the part number it is the Pittsburgh Power under bunk mufflers for a W900, the reverse flow ones.Kansas Thanks this. -
I've got the pitsburg power of a 14L troit and really can barely tell the difference. that funky w900 model must be totally different the the universal ones

Are you talking about the 180* deal that eliminates the muffler? If so, it would definately be loud! -
Yep that one thought it was a different one we were ordering. I got the Donaldson one on order and we are going to use the Pittsburgh power one to make it a 180* muffler for under the bunk.

So this pitts power replacement muffler is one of those weird "reverse flow" mufflers like come under some kenworth's and internationals? I've got a T600 with dual exhaust behind the cab. I have 2 mufflers standard 51" long (I think they're 51") under there. I put a couple of pitts power mufflers under there that they advertise as "vertical mufflers only" (theyre working good horizontally for me lol) because that's apparently all they had that would work in my application. The only under cab muffler they had was a reverse flow which is no good for me. Anyways I think these mufflers are too quiet especially with the jake on. I tried straight piping my truck for a while and it was waaay too loud, especially with the sunroof open which is practically only closed when it rains, no complaints there with the PP mufflers... They do sound really good overall though.. And I get compliments on the sound of my exhaust from time to time..
