They are known throughout the South as Palmetto BUGS, kindly refrain from insultingly referring to same as roaches.![]()
Proper procedure is to grab a paper towel, pick it up, walk it to the door and toss it out. They don't like to be stuck indoors (much like myself) and will thank you for your kindness by flying far, far away from you.
OK, that problem is solved. Now for the hookers and dd's; the advice already offered was perfect - tell them you have no $$$ and be "respectful". Good luck - it's just culture shock.
scared for my well being... worth requesting a new trainer?

are you saying you've spent a week in a motel away from home while your Trainer gets "home time"? Am I even hearing this right?
How much are they paying you to stay in the ####roach motel?
It's called Department of Labour, I think you start there by writing a letter after you take the truck and return to your home with it.
asap
No need to mention this on your resume of course.
If the police ask just say it must have disappeared while you were busy kicking the crack ###### and drug dealers out of your room and you took the bus home 5 days ago.
Better yet take it to the Atlanta Flying J you might get a couple grand for it easy no questions asked and then fly home in style, 1st class.Last edited: May 1, 2011

Its ok. A lot of you are experienced drivers and are used to this type of thing. I'm not. I will, in time, develop a thicker skin and learn how to deal with this type of thing after I get over the "culture shock" as one poster so eloquently put it. Until then I don't mind a little bit of poking fun at me, easy as it is to shrug off. I do thank those who have given me some advice as it truely was supportive to my outlook on the situation at hand. No: I have never seen a hooker. No: I have never seen a ####roach that would intimidate most dogs. No: I have never been offered drugs from a large man fidgiting and constantly reaching in his pockets whilst his eyes darted all over me. Alas, as the "wise ones" on here say, "It comes with the territory," and "get used to it," yes, I suppose in time I will. I will ultimately grow accustomed to all of this just as all
of you have. It was just a shocker that I thought would be nice to receive some advice or supportive words about. I had no preconceived notions about this industry and knew it was going to be a big change, of that, I am not guilty of being naive. It was startling to see it first hand however. So all in all thank you for your kind words and helpful advice to those of you that gave them to me. And to those of you who laughed and sneered? Its ok. I'm giggling right there with you at how pathetic I made myself sound (though my laughes are interupted with sobs and broken spells of crying hysterically, lol, but seriously...) no harm no foul. I'm outta here in two days and it will be a week or so after that ill be nice and chilly again in MN celebrating my four year anniversary. Blah blah blah... I'm done now PROMISE.Last edited: May 1, 2011

Well. Not AWL of us live in or near toilets. It's one thing to see it on TV, another altogether to see it in person.
I'm not the freshest punkin in the field myself and have personally seen some gawdawful stuff before becoming a driver. But to be faced with it day in and day out...is unacceptable to me. Which is why I try to choose my truck stops and resting places carefully. I like beautiful things to look at. I am still able to be shocked by what people can do to each other. I have deliberately cultured a certain naivete within myself...because when I can no longer be shocked, I am as bad as those who would do that sort of stuff.
Considering my history, this is an amazing feat.
My last piece of advice to our young friend: never completely give up the ability to be shocked by human behavior. Or sub-human, as the case may be.
And the bigger the bug, the bigger the *SPLAT!!*
(I know there are very few bugs that large in Monnesota.)supremekizzle Thanks this. -
The ####roach is nothing to compare with a Minnesotan mosquito. Those ####### are bigger then a great dane & more dangerous then a little tiny ####roach.Injun Thanks this. -
Fly off with small children who are not properly chained to their beds....never to be seen again...
Why, you could put a saddle on 'em....
Yeppers...MN skeeters are pretty vicious. I kind of had the misfortune a few times last year. -
I'm truly shocked and amazed at y'all for not giving this lad the proper advice.
SK.... Recruit all the hookers for "A better life as a Warner driver", collect all the "reference" bonuses and smile when you think of the future "orientation classes".
At least they'd be familiar with "the position".
Werner.... "F--- You Driver".
Trainee.... Cost you 500 bucks."
Big Don and harleymanjax Thank this. -
No they would make them all into DISPATCHERS or better yet SALES that way it would be honest when a driver or customer complained they got S C R E W E D
-
Yrs ago I was a werner trainee and I was told by trainer that he checked out the hotel before putting trainees in there. So you might want to call trainer and let him know how bad it is.Werner doesnt like for trainees to be in trucks without the trainer
Xdriver Thanks this.
