The Fiat 500 is coming. Its coming, and there is nothing you can do about it. Its coming, and you might not see it.
Its small, VERY small, SMART car small. Its also NOT a smart car, its "sporty" and economical, and the target market for it is HUGE!
You might not see it though, as your nose (in most trucks) is bigger than it is. I know for a fact it will be hard to see, so watch out! I was almost rear ended by a Freightshaker while testing one. He couldn't see me, but he COULD see the one in front of mine, so he didn't hit me THANK GOODNESS, but when I look in my rear view and see NOTHING but chrome grill, you're too close.
So, in an effort to make you aware of the little buggers, I'm warning you all now, to be on the lookout. They are hard to see, they're small, and you'll probably be outnumbered by them on the road in major cities soon.
Honestly, with 40mpg, and a base price of 16k....I see alot of them being purchased, especially with fuel prices where they are. So please be careful out there, I'd hate for any of you to lose your jobs, or take a life/cause injury to someone, all because Americans are looking for cars like this one.

i like the 500, ive been waiting for us to get more of the small cars over here. truckers dont get enough credit, we arent stupid or blind...well for the most part anyway. you wont die if you drive a small car. well you might, but stay out of blindspots and dont do stupid stuff and your chances will be no worse than any other motorist.
tech10171968 Thanks this. -
You'll never see a small car out number the bigger more roomier cars period. It didn't happen back in the early 70's and it's not going to happen now.
I watch for all vehicles no matter what the size. I drive in the city and my problem is the cars that cut in front of me. All day long I try to give space so there will be no problems but I really think a warning letter should go along with the operators manual telling that new owner that a truck will flatten this vehicle and all the truck driver will hear is thump thump. -
Here it is! With the optional high-visibility anti-deathwish package. In the old days, they used to make a man walk 200 FT in front of a following automobile with a lantern to warn horse drivers.. That thing has a 6-star safety rating if that's believable. If this sneaks right in front of you it may not be seen. Can people be that stupid? The ranch hand bumper on a pickup truck would crush it.

Ain't much different than watching out for motorcycles. Hell, I saw some crazy looking bearded guy riding a lawn tractor up the interstate today with a small tree.

You need to get both oars in the water!!
Have you forgotten what happened to all the previously imported French cars?
They're fine cars as long as you do not exceed 35mph or 70°F... -
i saw a guy out int he right lane on a gd rascal in LA about a month ago. not the interstate obviously, now that would be something. still, not the best idea.

My friend just announced she is about to buy a used 'scooter' for $300. Yes it will run 60MPH. Yes it is legal on the highway and gets 50MPG or some insane figure, even has plates and everything. Yes she is also completely crazy, won't be talked out of this, and no excuse about being retired and having no money changes that. I'm going to miss her but someone else might not. Geez it's morbid just to say it..
