So I will preface this post with the fact that the previous 4 months with swift have gone smoothly.
Friday I get a preplan, and notice it picks up before my 10 hr break is up even though my pta was set out and I had just spoken to my DM about. Sent a message asking if I could pick up late without consequences (aka covering my butt). No response but the delivery time was rescheduled.2 hours later I accept anyways and get dispatched, and the delivery time got changed back. Long story short I had to shut down at consignee 4 hrs before delivery time to make sure it was on time. Got refused because load was supposed to be rescheduled. Called dispatch in Denver and apparently all traces of the reschedule were miraculously gone. Had to leave and get a free headache with my log violation, only to sit for a day and a half for a preplan. No big deal. Get a 34 at home, laundry and shower for free. Wrong! Apparently, according to my dm, whenever you spend 34 hrs or more within 50 miles of home the system puts you on home time. News to me, and now I only received 1.5 days off for 5 weeks out (with about 7 days of layovers I won't see a dime for)
Just needed to vent about the worst 4 days of my young career. Now I wish I could get a DM that would respond to Qualcomm messages or answer his phone. Or more than 2000 miles in a week.
What?! 1.5 days off for 5 weeks out

It does not surprise me to hear this Jeepin86. I just left that disorganized company for greener pastures. From my understanding now, they have put all company drivers in their so called family plan. I only see more headaches and problems for company drivers. I could suggest changing DM's but that might not even help.
My only suggestion is do your 6mos to a year and run like hell from them. Keep your driving record clean, you have a brighter future in this industry with a smaller company and better pay.I have found many small companies out here that do value the driver and understand what these big companies are doing to the drivers.Jeepin86 Thanks this. -
Again they wonder why they cant retain drivers... Its because they dont want to keep you tooo many students to take your spot. run you hard as a solo driver first 4 or 5 months then its crap from there. i started as a team driver stayed out no less than 5 wks at a time come in thinking i had 5 days off WRONG so now 3 wks is my limit for the full 3 days off and my dm barely gives me that usually get in on a friday and its never early usually around 5 and she wants be back monday at 8 not happening

They don't wonder why they can't retain drivers. The more seats they open up, the more federal funds they receive for providing job training to new students. Those in the suits... they know what they're doing, make no mistake about that. If a high driver turnover rate was alarming to them, they'd have taken measures to try retaining drivers.
