KH, you are doing just fine here. You don't have to explain yourself if you choose not to post on a particular thread or subject.
Injun and The Challenger Thank this. -
Ladies and Gentleman,
I did go to Millington on April 25th but had to leave for personal reasons. My dad dropped me off at the bus station in Orlando. Met up with Tazaaa. So I am sitting here and see our driver to Atlanta. I am thinking yikessss. I remind Taz who are driver is: Mr. E Jackson himself, a 30yr veteran of Greyhound. So we board and two people get thrown off. We made it to Atlanta ok and connected to Birmingham. Once there we got on our bus to Memphis.
When we arrived we took the shuttle to the Admiralty Inn in Millington. We went to Ryans for dinner and stocked up on food from Walmart, a half mile walk from the hotel. Next day we are advised to wake up at 5am. No joke folks. Physicals start early and paperwork in the afternoon for the contracts to the academy.
Heres where I had my issue. She wanted a letter signed from my PD. We tried but failed. Note: If your family is behind you 100%, and you need a letter. Have Millington fax it to them and ask family to get it signed. My doctors told me they will listen to my family over a fax. My doctor said that in my appointment and if he has time, he will my parents. So I asked my recruiter for a bus ticket and got one. Only problem is no taxi till next day. A classmate kindly drove me to the bus stop in Memphis. I went to Orlando via New Albany, Tupelo, Birmingham, Montgomery, Dothan, Tallahassee, Gainsville and Ocala.
Surprises:
My recruiter called me the next day to make sure I made it home. I told him and her I was at stop in Tallahassee. trashtrucker, saw you by dothan and possibly on 10. I made it back to Orlando at 725PM on Tuesday. Why did I leave on Monday night??? I have a dad who is 61yrs and will not go pick me up in the middle of the night. My sister would but it ads complications. My recruiter(s) deserve full credit for making this happen. Thank you times a million and fyi I got 5hrs of sleep courtesy of the "grey dog."
So we go see my doctor, and he looks at my notes and fills out my paperwork. Yes yes yes. Since my insurance wont cover this, my doctor gives me his normal rate for patients with my insurance. $58 in my pocket please!!!! We did have one misunderstanding but I will not comment. So we fax it in and thanks to Kimberly J, Tom S, and the great dane; I am cleared to go back.
Lessons learned:
If any obstacles come up, do not panic. Contact your support team. I can not stress this enough. Injun, Tazaaa, Kevin, Kim, Tom, The Great D, and above all: My dad all helped me out. Tell the dillema and ask them to assist you. If it is high blood pressure; go home to your pcp and tell him:
" I was sent home from Swift academy for high blood pressure. I need a medication(s) that I can take and still drive a commercial motor vehicle. In addition, I need a release for that saying "first and last name is under my care for high blood pressure and is safe to drive a Commercial Motor Vehicle while taking such and such medication. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call my office at 123-456-7890.
Signature and date.
It is important for that letter to have commercial motor vehicle spelled out. Also, if you have any BP problems or sugar, they will find out. The DOT physical is thorough and they do not skip corners on anything. Swift does a very good job at selecting who they send up to these academies.
For food they say $150. I recommend more like $200 to be on the safe side. Ryans is next door (i love that place Taz and your know it). Sonic is down the road. KFC and Wendy's are by Walmart. Also, bring pens, a 6in ruler, rain poncho and paper. If you have one, a water proof brief carrying case and water proof boots.
KH
Rotten and Jarhed1964 Thank this. -
You are too young for BP problems. Get exercising! I'll do the same! I need to lose some weight.
123456 Thanks this. -
Some people have high blood pressure at a young age as a result of heredity.
It's almost as misinformed as saying someone is "too young for arthritis," which I have been fighting since my late 20's. I can't count the number of times I have heard (and still hear) that comment in quotations. If I am too young for it, somebody forgot to tell my joints. I wish the person responsible would send the memo, already.
So...it sounds by KH's post that the hurdles may have finally been cleared from his path. It's great to hear. Mr. KH, this is something you accomplished on your own. It is yours to be proud of.25(2)+2 and The Challenger Thank this. -
KHcookie278, Ken, Jarhed1964 and 3 others Thank this. -
Sorry Mom! I'll get you a nice card and flowers for mother's day.

Now why I know why this thread has got five stars. To me this an accomplishment. Boy I miss Ryans steak house. Why cant we have them in FL anymore. Grrr.
RT,
My birth mom died at 43 and she had been on BP meds since she was 30. I did not get sent home for that though.

Sounds like you took the bull by the horns and got done what needed to be accomplished. That's terrific. When are you going back!

KH Thanks for the info. I guess I will have my Doctor spell that out for my BP and Sleep Apnea when I hit my physical next week.
