always a good idea to leave your lights off at night as well--dont want to have that alternator working to hard---think of all that fuel used up
Does down-shifting use more fuel?

What about coasting downhill to a stop sign or red light?

Methinks the "truckers" you are talking to to get this advice are the type drive pickups with the little freezers in the back that sell that cheap, crappy "beef", or someone in a similar occupation. Or, you are talking to "truckers" that have zero experience and are in school, but, even then, most of those shouldn't be that stupid, as you seem to be.
Go troll somewhere else.Big Duker Thanks this. -
Caught a pic of Robert working on his "big rig". Disconnecting driveshaft & emergency brakes to save even more money.

I post this link because it explains engine braking and supports my argument.

I'd like to add that reverse thrusters can be thought of as auxiliary brakes.

Perfectly safe. Look! He's got a wheel blocked! (Jeeze, what an idiot)

I've thought more than once about closing the thread because it ads NOTHING of value.
How ever it doesn't violate site rules and the entertainment value is worth some thing.
But I do gotta ask..... when do we realize that no amount of explaining will convince a troll of some thing they've already long ago made up their mind about?
I would like the non CDL holding troll to explain WHY if they are so sure their thinking is the only right way they've came here to ask CDL holders, some with many more years of experience than I have why some thing is done and then to continue to claim their way is right even when being showed repeatedly why they are wrong.
I don't get it. -
Hes even using 2 2x4s for that extra safety backup.
ac120 Thanks this. -
Well, the troll keeps posting because, well, he's a troll. We keep posting because, well, we're truckers and we like to argue, I guess.
Scarecrow03 Thanks this. -
That does explain it.
