    And i applied for border patrol and went and took the test and they told me the only position they had open was at an airport in Tennessee (go figure) i declined

    Yeah and thats why i don't want to be a correctional officer either, i don't want to be stuck inside a building with no sunlight all day and i couldnt handle bein a probation or parole officer, don't want to be sitting behind a desk babysitting all day.....

    40 year old University and College grad here. I have been in sales and sales management for over a decade and have climbed the corporate ladder, been thrown off, and climbed back up again. A death in the family recently got me thinking if I wanted the headaches anymore.

    I decided to do something I have long wanted to do. My wife is supportive and in a month or so I will be out on the open road learning the ropes.

    If this is something you really want to do then do it. Otherwise, you will be asking yourself in 10 years "what if". However, while you get yourself established I would still keep feelers out there with various law enforcement agencies and keep in touch with your contacts. An excellent oppotunity might come along which you would otherwise miss if you were not networking.

    In the meantime you will be doing something you have chosen to do. The best of both worlds.

    Yeah it is definitely something i want to do. Even though the majority or people i talk to about it don't think its the right thing to do, i gotta do what makes me happy. I've actually rearranged my schedule at school so this next semester will be my last, i should graduate in december of this year. Then hopefully go to cdl school in December or next January at the latest. Thankfully i wont have to stay here in college until next may like i had originally planned, i'm getting real tired of the school routine.

    try USAJOBS.gov or cpol.army.mil

    Those are both Federal and Department of the Army job sites.TONS of law enforcement jobs among a crap load of others.There are even truck jobs. just throwin it out there for you. Why waste something that allot dont have and can make you more money.
