HI
I was wondering if anyone attended the CDL School at Arkansas State University at Newport? I was thinking about attending but the school is a continuous 19 days of 10 and 11 hours. With no days off this leaves no time to relax and let every thing soak in. Anyone hear anything about this program??
thanks

So far so good not much to tell. The main focus the first few days is to get you your permit. They seem to schedule alot of behind the wheel time, and focus alot on backing up. hope that helps. Oh and there are four people per apartment, two to a room

Enigma
Did you just start a class yesterday? What is the place like? Do they have a skid pad? computer simulator Nice trucks? I was kinda leary of the 19 consecutive days without a break. Is there anyone complaining? I was plannin on renting a one bedroom apartment in town for a few weeks. Is there any big supermarkets in town?
thanks -
ASU newport is a great school. there are PLENTY of trucks to go around. the "ghonnoria" apts. LOL are right behind a walmart. i went there in January and have been driving for USA since then.

the town is small not much to down but go to class so I wouldn't worry bout R&R. The traininers are great, as Pat said plenty of trucks, and there is a Krogers. I would suggest staying in the apartments they provide only because of the friendships make. We all studied together ate together and just made this first week brezze by.

i have no real complaints so far.
i have been paid for ALL my miles run
paid the orientation pay
paid the bus ticket home from orientation
paid to pick up my truck (bus ride)
paid the bonus after becoming first seat.
paid for all weight tickets and lumpers
everything they said they would do, they have.
i have seen a few threads i've yet to respond to that said otherwise. i really don't know why their experience is so different from mine? i really like my dispatcher he has gotten me home when i requested it so far.
just be on time every time and turn in all reciepts ETC. and you WILL get reimbursed for it, I DID. -
forgot to say, I DO have one complaint....63 MPH is toooo dang slow!! LOL
