    I know their a sponsor that's why I am posting. we bought a 2007 Volvo VN780, w/ about 480k miles fully knowing that some expenses would occur, what we did NOT expect was not 24 hours into the drive home, we got stuck in Sparks, NV with an electrical problem , with all the computers ECU etc on a Volvo, Not a good thing. We were told by the Volvo dealership Vovlo Master Technician that they had literally ripped out the old Qualcomm unit, not even bothered to cut wires..I repeat...RIPPED OUT....that caused several shorts in the electrical system and over $800.00 later we were ok.

    Oh did I mention Lone Mountain never stood by their warranty (no electrical coverage)....we just asked them to cover at least half the repair as the technician told us even a very quick inspection would have turned up this electrical mess, they refused to help in any way and would NOT stand by their product they sold us.

    Issue #2- We got a good DOT inspection their in NB by "their" recommended shop only to come back to California (where we needed to get another from the California Dept. Of Motor Vehicles, guess what? Oh you need another $4,300.00 worth of repairs before you can pass DOT....HMmm let's see....passes in NB by their recomended shop ( yes we should have picked someone else).....drive straight to Cali, oops you need a lot of repairs....could it be they have some "relationship or arrangement" with the shop in NB? Wouldn't surprise me a bit.

    I expected a truck that would go at least 24 hours before a repair
    would occur, I could go on with other "issues" but needless to say we
    are looking at acquiring 2 more tractors, for obvious reasons we will not
    be going back to LM.

    If you go their here are my recommendations;

    1) never get your truck inspected at a place they suggest
    2) make sure you get electrical coverage with your warrenty and understand it clearly, I was not in charge of the purchase so I had limited input here.
    3)Save yourself some time and frustration ND go somewhere else.

    Just my experience and my two cents..feel free to flame away, I am posting this experience on as many trucker related boards as I can to share my personal experience with other truckers.

    Peace out....

    I am sorry to hear about your difficulties with the truck. It is always a good idea to get your own people to do an inspection. Just curious as to what other problems were present that you needed to spend $4,300 to get passed by DOT? By the way, most warranties don't cover electrical.

    When do you take responsibility for not checking the trk out yourself instead of laying blame somewhere else? The qc had been ripped out and u did'nt see any exposed wires?Trk needs $4300 in repairs and u did'nt catch.Not trying to be mean but get real.You want to be an O/O with 1 yr exp,thats great.But it's alot of info on this board to help someone starting out on things to ask,things to check,really anything someone needs to know on buying a trk.But you neglected all of that,and you want to use the board to bash the dealer.

    yeah looks like a former US Express truck, and if so, he's gonna have more problems with that automatic..!!

    i went to the website of the company Lone Mountain and they have videos ons the red trucks (volvo's) and one can plainly see the automatic...good luck to him.

    Are you suggesting that the WIRING in a VOLVO was likely designed by the same guy that designed the control / safety system wiring at that Japanese Nuclear Plant.
