Hubby got his license in January, did his mentorship and went solo in April. He is flatbed. His first couple of weeks out, he made a couple of rookie mistakes which affected his hours available and in turn his paycheck...so he learned and that won't happen again.
So, he came home for a 3 days of HT, and put his truck in the shop...it was in the shop for a week....and came back with nothing fixed..although they did tell him they worked on the brakes...which was not what he brought it in for.
So, he decides he's willing to go out 3-4 weeks because he wants to work hard and make some money. Since he's been gone, he's been towed once because the truck just shut down completely...of course, 3 days at Freightliner and they found nothing wrong with it. Then his trailer brakes caught on fire....more time sitting waiting to get fixed. Then his tractor brakes went out....thank the Good Lord that if his brakes were going to go out, it happened in the daytime about an hour BEFORE he went over Mt. Airy in NC. More time sitting....and his load was t-called so another driver can deliver....more money lost.........
So he gets sent to Greer to get a "new" truck....when he gets there, Greer has no idea what he is talking about....and it's the weekend so his DM at home terminal is gone...in the meantime, he gets sent a preplan so he takes it....come Monday, he gets sent back to Greer to put the truck in the shop....he gets there and they tell him its 24 hours before they can even look at it.....so DM says, ok, if you want, we can give you a preplan to route you home to Phx and we'll get you a new truck when you get home...
Ok, sounds good....Greer to VA to MI to......LAREDO.........so now he's been sitting there since Saturday at 9am, and still no preplan in sight.......
Since he went solo on April 1 and up to this Tuesday's next check, he's made $2157........rougly $308/week.
Is this just the way it is? Or has he just had the worst rash of bad luck over and over and over?
He's willing to be out 3-4 weeks..he'll go all 48........he has a good attitude....he doesn't want to give up, but he is so frustrated.....not to mention that $308/week does not pay the mortgage.
Any advice? If not Swift, then where else in Phx for flatbed?
Thanks!
so frustrated!!

System Transport has a terminal in Phoenix, they also have a regional thing over there that would get him home every weekend. System is a good company to work for too.
Joetro Thanks this. -
does experience count from the day he received his license or from they day he went solo?
-
the day he went solo, but they hire people fresh outta school, so unless he's got a bad driving record or something he should be good. look em up on the internet under trans-system
