Do not let other people tell you how to fuel.....trust me. I made plenty of money leasing. Fuel is the number one expense but its how you fuel. If its dirt cheap fill it up. BUT ONLY IF YOU CAN GET THAT RED LIGHT ON BY PAY CUTOFF. If I'm in phoenix and I gotta go into California.... I buy enough to get me into California and back out. Even if I have to "overfuel". Because I would rather pay 3.93 in Arizona then 4.49 in California. Does that make sense.....write me a personal message if you want more tips. I promise I can help you make money. Especially if you have a smartphone.

The recruiters at Central don't seem very friendly. Every time I talk to one it seems as if I'm disturbing something they had going on. Isn't recruiting new drivers their job? I like what I'm seeing about this company on here and they are a forerunner on my list but to talk to their frontline representatives and be treated that way makes me look at them differently...

they speak to 100s of people a week, they dont care if one or twenty dont sign up, i promise that

Our recruiter was great. He never seemed like we were bothering him, and always talks to us when we go to wvc even now. His job is done, but he still keeps up and sees how we are. Not all recruiters are that way though. And, I ditto what dieseljunkie said, and know of a few other owner ops that would say the same. Arizona, oklahoma, missouri, tennessee, south carolina, all have cheap fuel. We fill as we go through, and at times we will overfuel on a week, especially if we are going home and know the week will be short. You have to know what you are looking at and keep tabs on it closely.

and that trainer run is about right for a team. -
Sure, if you over fuel it will hurt you on your next pay. But it will help you on the one after that. There is no reason that any driver especially a lease Op, should be living paycheck to paycheck.
It is all in how you save. I will go a year at a time without buying myself anything that is not mandatory. I transfer funds to my wife to cover bills. And the rest of my pay sits in my acct.
Then every 6-12 months I will pay off one large bill while home. Or use some of it for a short vacation. To the parents or something.
I live well below my means. And this is how everyone should live. Credit cards are evil. Credit is evil. Even though I have a vary good rating.Jeepintrucker, Jarhed1964, Lady K and 1 other person Thank this. -
Also, in regards to fueling while in a lease, always look at the fuel routing! The prices for the fuel will be shown on the fuel routing (lease operators only) There were several times that central wanted me to fuel at a location that was higher than another ie. they sent me to location 1 to put in 50gals at 2.91gal to go to location 2 to fill at 3.20gal. I just filled at the first location and skipped the second one. I also, when requesting fuel routing, would say I am 1/4 tank lower than I really was, gives you a few more options.

I agree with junkie, if it is really cheap and you can burn it off by the end of the pay period, by all means fill er up, as long as it will not put you overweight.
