I have spoken to 3 different recruiters and only one of them was pleasant and helpful. I think I his name was Mario and I may have his extension written down somewhere so maybe I need to look for that. I've narrowed it down to 3 companies and Central is one of the top 2. Just going to try not to let a bad recruiter change my opinion of Central.

Mario will try to get you to lease. He is a very gregarious individual.

Steve at drivers solutions was the most helpful recruiter we ever spoke with...wish he was at central!!!

just wanted to mention that central also gave jeff a $200 advance if he needs it the day he left with his trainer..i think it is on a card they give you ....not sure about how the card works. We also had quite a few questions abour money..how to survive during the school and training. School turned out to take longer that we were told so that was one week we had not planned for. But with the $100 the first week with a trainer and the $200 advance (if needed) will really help I think. This is Jeff's second day with his trainer so I am still waiting for more info

The art of home time... WHAT IS THAT?? and how do you get there??? I am obviously new and don't want to freak out on anybody <I do but my BF won't let me>. My temp license expires on Sunday and we get to go 400+ mile out of route to swing in to get the new ones. So we can make our apt in TX on Saturday. We have been out for 7 weeks. and yes we have asked sent the mac 21 for the 13-14th and have reminded our DM. He's the 1 that said to swing by the house.. Just a little vent sorry!!

7 weeks? Thats a long time out. How long ago did you begin requesting hometime?
-
MaryK, my hometime is my time. We will (because we are lease ops who have kids in college and graduating high school) swing through the house with a load on occasion. Our dm (dole fleet) knows we stay out for as long as we can without going crazy, but bless it all when I specifically tell you senior musical is on march 25 - 26, graduation may 23 + 26, we will be home those days, the I don't give a rip, we will be home those days. Ken is good about it and felt bad his reminders didn't come up to make sure he knew we needed to be home. But, he is also good about trying to route us close to the house on slow freight weekends (the holidays like memorial day, easter, july 4, etc.) So we can take a load home and not have an issue with delivery. We did it on coors also. Pick up on nc on friday, can't deliver until monday in ft. Worth, looks like we go home for a bit. But, that also is the beauty of being lease op, you choose the route. Once upon a many moon ago they used to have to pay you for missed hometime, but that went away. We work our butts off, but when it comes to our time at home, the truck is not on my mind until before we leave. Lextec spends some time running lights, and checking other stuff out, but he was the mechanic, and I the accountant. I catch up on bookwork, and clean, but concentrate on family while at home.
Chromedome, I know we shouldn't live paycheck to paycheck, and I know we should be able to do things differently, but it is still a work in progress. Not only do we have money on the new to us truck, but I have figured out how to start a real savings account and trying to do things the Dave Ramsey way. It is tough, especially with kids. I just keep reminding myself if we live like no one else, later we will live like no one else.Lady K Thanks this.
