Hello:
I am sorry I did not look at my post sooner. I was a little busy with family issues. My father was recently diagnosed with heart disease and had to go in for surgery this week. Fortunately, he is ok! He had open heart surgery but did well and I am grateful for that. So to get back to my original question? I had a gap in my employment from 09/95 -- 12/96. I first worked in real estate for three months and made no money. I will never get involved with that scam again. Also I worked as a private tutor for the rest of that time period and made not so much money so I felt it was worthless for me to report that on my taxes since I made way below the poverty level of income. I did it while I lived at home and in 01/2007 I got a full-time teaching (fill-in) position and it ended in 06/2007.
I am a teacher by trade but I attended a full-time Masters program from 09/01-06/05, which was time consuming and financially draining. I was told I had two years left to the program and I stopped it or I would have to owe way too much money in student loans. My problem is that I told the Maverick recruiter that I was in school but he wanted W2s for the year gap. I told him that I did not and could not provide them because it was not worth reporting. He told me that I needed 6 mos more of verifiable employment in order to qualify for Maverick employment. I had solid work history prior to graduate school but after leaving I had a tough time finding a good job. What can I do or say to the Maverick recruiter to get in? I feel as though I am blacklisted because of that ridiculous work gap in my life. It was a mistake to go into real estate, but the tutoring was worth it in order to make some money to survive. Personally, I always wanted to get into flatbed trucking, and I find Maverick to be one of the few and best companies to work for. I always do my research on a company before I make a decision, and from I have read so far, I feel that Maverick is second to none. If you can help me I will appreciate it and will refer you if you are willing? Thanks again.

I know of a flatbed company that will hire you to get your 6 months in. If you want to run ok equipment, get ran into the ground a little, encouraged to cheat your logs, and underpaid by flatbedding standards. But its a start. And its where I got my start.

Hello:
What's the name of the company???
John -
Diamond State Trucking 1-800-XXX XXXX
They are good people, just run ya hard and pay you light. They'll train you on the flatbed. Pay goes $20 for tarping, $25 for extra stops, start at 30.5 cpm. Every truck is a decent double bunk T-600 Kenworth. A weird per diem pay. You can only fuel at Flying J's and Pilots. They will probably want you to take a course on the FMCSR's and logs. Which won't break the bank or take long at all. They are bad hurting for drivers right now. -
Just curious if you tried the story I made up for you? -
Sorry about the phone number thing. When I get about 32 more posts under my belt I will pm you that phone number.

The reason the number of posts to activate the PM feature is so high is to help to prevent recruiters from spamming you. They would sign up make a couple posts, and then spam the members. No body cared for that. The last thing you came here for was to be hassled by recruiters.
And the reason for no phone numbers is that recruiters and advertisers throw their info out looking for free advertisement. The site owner works to hard to give free advertising.
If you want you can PM the number to any of the mods with a request to pass it on to JohnB. PMs to and from moderators are the exception to the 50 post count. -
Hello guys:
I got the telephone number. Thanks again. I am looking into Maverick, Roehl and Schneider National. So far Maverick and Schneider National are reveiwing my applications. Roehl does not hire in my area. They hire in Albany but not in the southern portion of NY state. Too bad though, but I have a new number for Maverick and will give them a try. Schneider is offering me the bulk division and so far so good with them. I will also call DST and I want to thank you for the number. I appreciate it very much. I just want to start somewhere fresh and get the best training possible. As far as I read, Schneider National sold their flatbed fleet to Maverick some time ago. They said that they were not making money with the specialized division, hence it was sold along with their drivers. I heard they were not too happy with the deal, but they had no choice.
Anyway, I will let everyone know what happens next. Thanks again and have a good day. If you want to ask me anything feel free to drop me a line any time.
