I was wondering if anyone here has pulled a load into Canada? Was there any additional things to handle or any hassles? I'd like to hear the story if you've done it. I'd like to make a run up there to see what it's like and I'm a little curious.

Hey, anyone get stuck in the tornado in Joplin? If so, and you have reception, are you okay? I heard from one of the office guys that we had 6 trucks damaged in the tornado.

Are you asking in general, or with Central? As far as I'm aware of, Central doesn't go up in to Canada much anymore. I know I've never been asked, and my co-driver and I are both able to go, with passports in the truck. Somewhere.

i started training first week in dec went solo first week in feb as far as home time goes i havent had any real issues i took off 8 days in march for a family illness 4 days in april 4 days in middle of may and just took off 7 again going back wed. i just tell my dm i need two days off get to crswvc then send in my mac 6 and tell them when i will be back.. i have had to even extend days for family issues which have made the return to work load delayed a bit but still getting enough miles to have the lease people send me messages to lease but i think ill stay company for the remainder of my year i checked with my payroll lady and i will get my 1 cent per mile raise the first week in june pay roll hasnt been to bad to tell the truth i found out dont tear up a comchek if you fill it out incorrectly and the lumper wont take it caused a double charge one was fixed by itself the other i cought but was going to be fixed the next pay period because of the 8 day time off i didnt get a paycheck for 2 weeks but the insureance was taken care of and just doubled billed when i had a positive paycheck so that was a bummer but of my doing odley enough i had more presets my first month out and have had to rattle my dm abit on the QC etc to get loads when i am at my 99 or on my way to the 99 i have had several small trips sent to me when i had no hours left and there was no allowance for my 10 hour break trying to get that though their heads can be hard sometimes especially the night and weekend dms.. one time my dm told me i had plenty of hours i replied what my hours were and were going to be in my opinion were not enough was told to take the load anyway so i did and as the lack of hours became apparent is i thought they would i informed dispatch they reset the time and all was good but i didnt get an ontime 10.00 which i didnt think was fair but oh well i guess i finnaly went on line to see my paychecks etc and have got all my loads ontime except that one and the 10.00 bonus adds up also got some of the detention pay i put in for and as farr as i can tell all the tolls i had to pay... like the freedom i have been able to have .. it has cost me money some three weeks off so far bills didnt get paid but i did it because i wanted to or atleast my wife and i did. i still might lease if i can really make the 20% more i hear about so much extra money to help with the time off .. i have also asked my dm about deviating from the route sent to me he said basically as long as i get to my 99's etc he doesnt worry about it just make sure its not a real big deviation and realize i wont get paid the extra miles i go... i also havnt followed the fueling sent to me much if i have the fuel i drive till i will be done for the night have to scale fix the truck etc that way i dont have to spend time waiting in fuel lines if i dont need to ... i call the fuel dept ask them about fuel on the route i am going to and so far hasnt been a real problem.. they sometimes ask why i didnt follow the fuel routing sent to me and i tell them i didnt need fuel at that time or its on the wrong side of town etc i have even been able to pass up a terminal stop because i fueled in nebreska and went onto utah avoiding the denver term stop.. i like the extra hours i get on loads sometimes to sleep in or i will call the 99 and ask if i can drop or deliver early i did that in colo once and droped at sams dc went to my 1 in ft morgan got that load and made it up the road an hour to one of the nice rest stops on hwy 76 all before my 99 was to be dropped by the time given me..i dont no how many times i have been told walmart wont make same day or next day appt changes but i have been able to do it on a couple of loads.. i really get a kick out off dropping/unloading early when dispatch says it cant be done then QC them for a new load or they QC me asking am i really done with my next load already then give me another load ..well i didnt mean to right a book here but it has been awhile oh yea another thing i wanted to try another truck had a volvo which was ok but wanted to try something else so was at crswvc and checked the 'bull pen' where the company newbie truck are at and found a pete 387 that was i good shape will try that till aug when the lease is up as it has 457000 miles on it other than electrical issues when it rains alot it a nice truck. still would like to try a cascadia..ttfn

the truth is that you get a day for each week you are out. You probably not be home for a day each week, but that is what you earn. You will NOT get 5 days for 5 weeks out. Max is 4 days.

I have been in and out of Georgia for the past week. Pulled in a load to outskirts of Atlanta, back out to Texas, back to Georgia, down to Florida, now passing through on the way to Illinois. I have seen 3 or 4 other Central trucks out here while running along.

You dont mess up compliance if you send a message to dispatch telling them you can only take on 50 gallons at a time. When you send a mac17 you dont have to take on as much fuel as they tell you to. When you start to run low, send another mac17 and as long as you are following the fuel routing they give you, there is no compliance problem.

LOL, the weights they send you on the instructions are frequently wrong. I got bagel bites this morning that were supposed to be 12,500 and ended up with 38,900. Then they had the last 2 pallets with loose boxes and they said they didn't have any shrink wrap. Called OS&D to cover my butt and they said that I should run it because it's a stock transfer and won't be rejected. The 75 is a lot of ski jumps and I know that stuff is going to be all over the place. It's documented on the qualcomm... What a bunch of bozos at that shipper.

I just looked at my latest pay statement and found out that I am correct. I fueled 140 gallons in missouri and paid $7.60 in road and fuel tax. I fueled 80 gallons in texas and paid $11.28. Different states have different tax. The fuel department can give you a copy of it. there are some states with a high tax but the fuel routing program will send you there anyway because Central gets a refund for overpayment. The o/o does not get the refund. Try not to go to Florida, they have a $2.01 tax on each gallon. It makes the price of the fuel really high. OK accountant, your turn. If you would like, I can put a picture of that sheet on here.

Don't know about Joplin, but have been dodging tornados and severe thunderstorms today, going thru OK and AR. Had one in front of me between Cherokee Post and El Reno this afternoon. Lots of trees down, saw 2 semis turned over with one of those having the tlr ripped off and laying in a field. Over turned cars and a fire.

Stopped in OKC for fuel and took a break since I 40 going east was getting hammered. Took off at 2000 and ran thru rain in eastern OK. Tractor pulling doubles, went to fast and lost it a rolled. Came on that right after it had happened.

Then a tornado behind me as I'm running AR and hear it did some damage around Van Buren, I think.
