Worst I have ever seen?
T/A in Franklin TN! There were roaches everywhere, two dead mice swept into a cornewr in the ladies room, and the whole place REEKED of pi$$! I was certainly NOT going to condecend to eat try to anything that came out of that germ laden filth haven!
And to add insult to injury.... some jerk mistook me for a lot lizard!
Bonniebroke down plumber, wulfman75, teammemberrich and 4 others Thank this. -
Pilot has a few losers I've been to.
Charlotte, NC
Camden and Cayce, SC
Lagrange, GA
Nitro, WV
Hammond, LA
Ruther's Glen, VA
The most disappointed I've ever been was pulling into the Noble's Truck Stop in Livingston, AL (exit 17 on I-20/59) to purchase a much needed CB antenna. Now, what kind of TS don't have CB equipment? Well, I found the one that didn't, that's for sure. No diesel, a funky looking buffet that they wanted payment prior to dining, and no trucker supplies either. I beat it out of there and haven't been back since.
Any of the truck stops on the Atlanta beltway are pure crap. I make sure I don't have to stop at any of them. Pilot, Petro, and TA are not for the faint of heart in Atlanta.
With all of that said, sometimes a place to park and rest for a few hours is almost like heaven, no matter the funk around you. Gimme Shelter.eightball, teammemberrich and HFC Thank this. -
I've been to a few that aren't just dirty, they're flat-out terrifying.
Anyone ever been to the TA in Gary, Indiana? I worked for a company that required us to stop there for fuel.
Nothing more nervewracking than visiting that place at 1 a.m. on a weekend....eightball, HFC and teammemberrich Thank this. -
Hey man, nothin' wrong with the T/A in Gary, hell when I drove for Covenant, I pratically lived there (I would be in and out of chicago 2-5 times a week), aside from the occasional gunfight, hoes getting stabbedand beat up by their pimps, drivers crashing into each other, and potholes big enough to bust airbags...wulfman75, teammemberrich, eightball and 3 others Thank this.

Two come to mind here, the one in Jersey City, and the one in Philadelphia.
eightball and teammemberrich Thank this. -
I may not be a professional driver, but I've seen my share of absolute S***-Holes in my lifetime.
Conoco on I-44 in MO, outside of Ft. Leonard Wood (although I think last time I passed in September, it was closed.)
1 Pump worked. Inside was dark, damp. no less than 3 rats skittering on the floor, Whole place reeked of something between Hunter's Doe Urine and Dead Skunk in-the-middle-of-the-road smell. Bathroom floor was yellow (whereas the store's matching tiles were white.) P-- stains on the wall. I sure as hell didn't stick around. I walked in, used the toilet (somehow without barfing) and RAN back out to my truck.eightball, teammemberrich and HFC Thank this. -
Some of you guys no doubt remember that ol' hell hole of a truck stop in Phoenix that used to be where the Pilot is now. I assume there is still only one Pilot in Phoenix.
Anyway, I'll let somebody else tell the gory details of the place. What was the name of that truckstop? I can't remember, but what a dump it was.teammemberrich and eightball Thank this. -
Funny. I stopped at the Pilot in nitro just a few weeks back, and had no problems at all. I pulled in, fueled, washed my hands, grabbed a couple of hot dogs, chips and a soda, and headed on down the road. granted, I was there less than 15 minutes total, but i had no issues with it.eightball and teammemberrich Thank this. -
Then you were lucky Burky; last time I pulled in there (for fuel, bathroom and an Arby's sandwich) it took me about 30 mins. Although I have noticed that a lot of normally effed-up truck stops, have periods of the day, where you can pull in and get your business done quickly.
Go figure...Still undecided and eightball Thank this.
