It's at exit 6 on 95. They charge to park (as a lot of places around here do), except weekends.
What can I say? Another truck stop. -
Yep, with crappy food on paper plates, and a big sign, NO REFUNDS... But it is a place to park.
Working my way home, in North Platte NE tonight.. reminded DM about 11 am about needing a repower in Cheyenne, to get me an empty to go home with and that I will arrive in Cheyenne at 0800. This load continues on to Ogden, a drop. "you can't get there tonight?" was the response... "no, not legally, as stated 0800" okay, let me see what I can work out...
Nothing...
so at 1630 I call to find out what is up... oh we have it all worked out... want to inform me? a convoluted mess is what they came up with, but the good part, is the truck that is getting this load I am under, will empty out at Wally world with a 0315 appt... so they should be empty when I arrive, and then I can be home before noon...
Be safe, keep an eye on that weather.
As I came through the Quad Cities this morning there were 2 trucks that had been blown over the night before... one, a CR England, there were no tracks in the grass or mud just one steer tire skidmark on the pavement, and he was 20 feet off the pavement on his side..
The other one was a grain truck, in the median, and he had skid marks and slide marks across the pavement and mud. -
I was of the same mind as you. Never refuse a load. TTake it and roll. Thats what they taught us in business class.
So heres my story. I signed up on Alliance and left the yard as a L/O 2 weeks ago. At the end of today I will have a total of 4096 paid miles. thats only like 2K per week. Not gonna work!! The problem was I been stuck runnin meat loads. Tyson, Brawley, Tyson. Did a 34+ reset between each load. Way to much sittin.
So I call my DM this morning to talk about the sitting and the lack of miles. He says its not his fault, its the planners. And that I acknowledged the loads so its on ME. He said that if the load was not good I should have refused it. WTF? So I should refuse loads like that?. What about not getting paid for the DH miles on next load? He says thats BS.
What should I do? -
Corporal,
Real strange times in shipping right now. Normally this week is busting from the meat patches as we try and get the product to the retailer by thursday so they can have it out on the shelf friday. This weekend officially opens the barbeque season.
However, for whatever reason (the economy?), we have 22 trucks sitting waiting for a load (no assignment yet) at Amarillo, Dodge and Holcomb.
It's been a funky week or ten days.
I'm emptying out in Chelsea right now and will head up to Greenland NH to the TA afterward. No preplan. I might be doing my third reset in one week, so I'd rather be there than the citgo in Foxboro.
TLea, enjoy your time home. Glad you're going to finally make it.
Be safe everyone.Corporal_Clegg Thanks this. -
I will enjoy my home time, away from home... another left turn, another left turn....
Clegg, you will find that nobody in dallas will take responsibility for anything, they will always deflect, and blame you the driver. Your contract clearly states the penalty for refusing a load, and your DM just does not want to do anything about your miles. And usually this week is balls to the wall on meat loads, but Stevens has been late with so many loads, that they have lost many loads.
One suggestion is to request remind between 8 to 5, that you will be empty at XXXX tomorrow, what do you have for me? First few weeks are always tuff.Corporal_Clegg Thanks this. -
Well I have a load out of Newbury tomorrow morning to Bethlehem PA, then from there another load to Ogden. So looks like I'll be rolling all weekend.
Rolling out of here tomorrow morning one hour before my third reset this week. -
be careful with the weather, we got hammered at the yard this night.
Dryver Thanks this. -
