Well, like I said, seeing it is your SECOND time around owing a truck, you gotta start somewhere :yes2557:

I understand you have 1.3 million safe miles, and that is very honorable. Not too many people can say they have accomplished that.

Glad you made $60k in 3 months, so you cleared $15k a month, not bad. But how much is your truck payment, and trailer rental, and insurance, and how long are you gone to make the $15k each month??? Are you L/P a truck thru them? If so, what kind of truck, mileage, ect.... and lastly, why did you lose the 1st truck????

And I didn't hear thru the grapevine that CRST sucks, I used to pull for them, and know all the crap they tried to pull with us. They pull cheap freight that no-body else will take, and cuts a HUGE chunk out of it for themselves. And that $2.75 a mile isn't squat when your pulling coils. I ran MI trains for 2yrs and I would get $6-$8 a mile hauling 125k up I-94 to Detroit out of US Steel in Gary back when prices were low. And those were the same loads CRST was trying to put out there for $3 a mile.

I was just stating my experience with them, and what I see on the road and in the truckstops. You may be an exception to this, and i just wish you the best of luck. if you are happy there, then good for you, cuz that's all that matters.

Well look the last thing I want to do on here is get into a 5th grade "cyberwar" I appreciate your past experiences and also appreciate your input.
I am doing the L/P and got a 2006 freightliner (former Crete truck), it had 503567 miles on it when I got it. The purchase price on the truck is $27000....that same year make, model, miles are selling for $32 to $35k in the Truck paper and at dealers. So in my eyes not a bad price. As far as losing my first truck I had a 2002 9400 Intl. and was leased on to a Reefer comapny out of Roanoke, Virginia. I made decent money there, but my youngest daughter had to have open heart surgery at the age of 5, and I sold it to pay off some astronimical medical bills. Since that surgery I have had terrible credit, so know financial institution would even think about lending me money for a new truck. So after much research and consideration I decided to enter into this L/P program. And thus far I am making more money then I have ever made driving a truck.
This program isn't for everyone, and if I had my way I would have bought a truck through a dealer or auction, but that isn't feasable right now. Like I have stated before on another thread I have averaged over $2000K a week to the house. Now by your standards this might not be great money, but it has helped me start to dig my way out of the financial cavern I have been in since my daughters surgery, and start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I won't by any, means get rich over here, but if rates and demand stay steady, I should net $80K and still spend quality time with the family every week.
I drive a truck to live, and not live to drive a truck.

Sorry to hear about your daughter, I hope she is doing better now.

I did not mean to raise a stir, I was just stating my experience with them, and it was not good. But then again, it was also 6yrs ago too. They might be better now, but since they make you pay trailer rental, and they nickel and dime you (so I've been told) I would just expect that you should be doing better than $2 a mile to make a living.

But like I said, as long as you are happy, and eveything is going good for you, then that is all that matters. Best of luck to ya, and keep the rubber side down.

I have been with malone since the end of Febuary and my outlook on this company is they cheat and lie to get driver's to take loads at the cheap rates. The loads are paying alot higher than what they offer to you and if you research it you will see. Go to a landstar broker load boad and then check out the Crst load board since 75% of crst agents are also landstar agents. You will see the same load on both sites but Landstar pays more and they have already got there cut but if you decide to take the landstar load you have to give crst there cut. So by saying this Crst takes a cut from the top then they take another cut once a driver is scammed into taking the load. Onto of this they lie about backhauls out of certain areas they tell you that they know a friend or relative that works for a shipper and can get you out you accept the load and start planning and then they say oh they have no loads coming out of there today. So then your stuck a day or so. I am leaving for Baggett Transportation next week due to there is something else going on at Crst. Andy the operations manager left, Daniel in recuiting left, Megan in recruiting is leaving, they have lost alot of agents the past few weeks that has either left or is leaving. So if you are still there they have an updated agent list on there web site due to all the agents leaving. So what does that tell you!!!! It tells me they are a sinking ship due to there safety rating in the eyes of CSA!!! and they are losing loads especialy when a shipper is asking for there safety rating before they are giving loads out. That will also tell you that the only loads they are able to get are the cheap ones!!!!!!! And I can contest to that due to my average load when I started was paying to the truck $2.10 a mile now I am averaging $1.60 to the truck!! The loads are getting cheaper and they are lying to get you to run them!! I see as an owner operator stay far away from them if your a LP they take care of those guys to as you have seen in a earlier post that they will nickle and dime you but you LP guys makes them money!!!! That is why they try so hard to get them in the door they know right off the bat they will make money because you guys sorry to say have bad credit and they know they have you and can make money off you as long as your there. Once you leave they will have another sucker take over your truck and make money they will off of him as well!!! Something to think about

    He certainly isn't a hater...

Why the animosity for large cars? I certainly don't care what you drive.. I have a 17 year old Pete with 1,6XX,000 miles on it... I took off all the chicken lights.

I also get paid by the cwt... I have 103,000 lb. scale tickets to prove it... so what?

What we are saying is Malone isn't a top notch company but you have chosen them so good luck... that LP will probably sink you.

If you didn't want our collective opinion why did you ask for it?

I'm just curious, but why is it that you think they take so much better care of the l/p guys. how are they making better money than say a owner op. that has his truck paid for. doesnt have alot of over head. the way i understand it from a few guys that work there is your can get on their board, or call the agents for loads.dont absolutly have to deal with a f/m or dispatcher on a regular basis. So are you sayin that every agent knows every truck and knows who the lease purchase guys are? come on, give me a break. i'd say it comes down to who wants to get out of bed, get that load untarped, get unloaded, call in or see whats on the board. not sleep in till 8 or 9 then get up spend 2 hours dickin around, then finally call in at 11 or 12 to find all the loads are gone. i'm not sayin that they always have a backhaul or a load waiting on you, but i'd say some of these guys are their own worst enemy.maybe not.I dont work there, so i really dont know.

I don't know the specifics, but from what I heard was the L/P guys have different tractor numbers than the O/O guys. So the agents might be able to tell, but I don't think CRST lets their drivers go thru agrent directly. I do believe they have to call into dispatch and get the loads, so CRST does it's thing. But again, I don't know the specifics. Maybe runningman can chime in and give you some REAL input??

You call agents, brokers, shippers for loads and your dispatcher is basically your secretary, entering your load info into the system.

Or you can let a dispatcher run ya wherever for whatever $$ if you are lazy.

I'd like to know what a top notch company is.
