I'm assuming the T660 has the Airglide 380 suspension? I think what type of rear suspension has a lot to do with how much your steering carries. I know most Pete's carry way more steering weight than any of the KW's we have with the 8 bag air ride. Grossing 118,380 I had 52k on the drives, 5th wheel 6" ahead of center and still could only get 13,200 on the steering. All this on a 215" daycab.

I think if the T660 had the AG400-460 instead of the 4 bag 380 the steering weight would be a lot less.

jdub, how heavy are you? Maybe slide the seat back a couple notches and move that weight to the drives?

Ha, some of the phatty's you see waddling around carrying they're 50gal coffee mug makes me wonder how they even fit in the door of the trucks. No way those air ride seats can lift that much!:biggrin_2559:

Very good point. Fuel and a driver can make a lot of difference. For the steer I'd go by the rating on the tires, the axle, and the state limit. Who would get after you then?

You can see by my picture that I drove a truck and trailer with no fifth wheel. To get the gallons on and make the limit for the steers the truck had to be spec'd with a drop axle. KW's might be a little heavier but it mostly depends on the engine too. We had different makes but there was alot of influences including the tank that is mounted on the frame for us to tell which make was the heaviest. We had to weigh all them seprate with a full tank of fuel loaded and empty and a 200lbs driver when they first came new to us.

Not correct. I drive an 07 Columbia pulling a 53' van. When loaded with 44,800 # of cargo 79000 GVW with 4/8 fuel adjusting the tandems does have an effect on the steers. The effect will vary depending on 5th wheel placement. Actual effect with 5th wheel centered is 10% of weight moved forward (sliding tandems back) goes to the steers, 90 % to the drives. It's not big but it is there, and is a higher % as you change the 5th wheel position forward.
