Lowering the speed on trucks may be beneficial to the companies however what about the potential safety concern it poses which would have to come in as a close second on companies priority list. When you have "Joe 4wheeler" out clowning on the expressway and we can't even accelerate to get past him because we're governed at 62 mph what about the potential accident risk. And trust me with some of the instances that I've seen and been involved in the accident risk far outweighs what any company can save in 1 yr's worth of reduce fuel output. Not to mention the longer times it takes to complete loads, and reduced amount of work you can take in a week because of running slow. If it was of some much concern then why dont the states lower the speeds for trucks (and no I'm not an advocate of this). It a shame when you can't do the speed limit. The issue here is not about them saving money how about lobbying to congress to either get truckers better fuel rates or higher pay, then the speed adjustment becomes a non issue. FYI-Jet fuel is currently 3.03 gallon and I'm paying 4.65 gallon in chicago (side rant) Have a great day and drive safe!

Well that's one hell of a pee poor attitude. Compensation for running slower, how about a job?
It's funny how you say "running slower made 100 grand for us" Who's the "us"? Sounds more like "me" (you) who pocketed the extra 100 grand (I could be wrong) at the drivers expense but then again, he (they) was just lucky to have the privalage of working for you.
As an owner of a large or in your case, a small fleet, driving at lower speed limits only benefits the company or in some cases, the CEO, owner, etc. in monetary compensation. If the driver is compensated for the lower speeds, that's fine but to not compensate is the same as stealing money from a drivers wallet and to have an attitude of "be thankful you have a job" is a sign of somebody who is a pee poor manager of people and running a business.

Alot of drivers would sell there first born to get 79mph. Hell some would even go for 70 at this point. I know 62 is downright depressing espcially if you're anywhere in the southwest. Case in point Eagle or Eagle Pass Tx the speed limit is 80mph. I was driving for Western Express governed at 67 in 06 and a peterbuilt bull hauler came by and blew my doors off!! I'll be so glad when I can get my own rig and not be under constraints!

I was warned by the way and he was going so fast it felt like I was going backwards on a ice rink trying to pull a elephant by his trunk. Going slow sucks no matter what the company's excuse is.
