So far Im happy with my decision. Hopefully it will work out for you. I set my school start date about 5 weeks down the road and they were cool with that.

I started a blog that tells of my experiences on the road with my trainer. You might be interested in that as well. http://otrwithchuck.blogspot.com

    Thanks...

I know that I read everything that I could find before choosing Stevens. I felt they were the best fit for me.

Internet access is spotty so I upload when I can.

Is there any area of the job that you would like to see me put into those post? I started this for family but I think this could answer questions for folks that are looking to get into trucking.

Not really, I am after the adventure part of your stories... One of the biggest reasons I want to drive, but I do have a couple of questions about the recruiting I have for you, but I will message you in a bit about em.

I am a semi-experienced driver. I have 1.8 years of experience but none of it was in the Rockies. That means I have not done any mountain passes except the smokie mountains, appalachian mountains....other smaller ones. West Virginia had a couple of bigger ones. Would these qualify as mountain passes for Stevens or would I have to go out with a trainer for these qualifications? Plus I never had to chain up....ever.

You can have climbed and decended EVERY mountain pass in the western hemisphere and Stevens will require you to fo their program.
Not a big deal. Just descend two passes on their list without a jake and two with a jake and you're fine.
You'll have to go thru the orientation program and out with a trainer anyway.
Don't sweat it. Passes are easy if you do them right and they WILL train you to do them right.
Stevens does not chain up. If it's that bad, park the truck. You make the call.
