How did JB Hunt develop such a bad reputation?

I remember the jokes and the laughing at the drivers by others drivers. I somehow feel sorry for the JB co drivers when they pull into a pilot to fuel. Its like they have the STD or HIV/AIDs. They are shunned by the Good ole Boys for being Suberviant to the Master!

The problem lies not the drivers but what the drivers stand for. Its Clear you either like em or not. But remember, At the end of the day the man behind the wheel is just like you and me. His underwear has Yellow Stains in the front and Brown one's in the back!

I see JBHUNT not as an Evil Empire full of greed, just another Super Fleet that has gotten too big. the larger the company, the larger the problems.

One thing is predictable, the trucking industry is unpredictable.

Name brand recongnition. Hunt has "Branded" themselves as the short haul light load back country carrie with Nations Logistics customers that smaller fleets can not service. In short they will haul anything any where. and have low prices. Why, because they have huge resources and assets and can dominate in an open and free market.

Are they a good company to work for? It depends on what are your standards and expectations.

For me it's all about "Whats in your wallet?", as in the Capitol One commercial. and how well the company respects the driver!

My gain on EGHT was over a very short period of time. If you made 800% on Apple you did it a.lon
g time ago over a very long period of time. I've made over 300% on a stock myself. Actually its not the percentage that matters. It the dollar gain that counts . You can make 400% on $4 but still not have any money. I was on a stock trading site once and a guy was bragging that he made 200% on a stock but his investment was only $50. Good but really not.

i thought this stuff was ridiculous,im sure most other drivers do as well.

the thing that really pissed me off was when they would send you a msg if their indicator says that you put "X" pressure on your brakes. as if not getting miles/pay and the rest of the bs wasnt enough. the fact of the matter is that they dont know the situation, what they know is that you had to slow down and you might of been following too closely,so they have their desk jockey jump on your back and ride you until you say uncle.

I am new to this forum, but have read with some interest the various comments about JB and others. As an ex-JB driver I feel a need to throw my two cents into the mix. I am an "ex" because I finally was able, after 32 years, to get a job in town that paid enough to live on.

First, it seems as though so many drivers are angry at their condition, or their position, or whatever. Just angry, I guess. Well, trucking is good for those folks in a way, because the solitude of the cab keeps them from having to deal with other people for hours at a time. I'm sure that the other people are happy about that.

Most drivers will notice with even a causal effort that many of their fellow drivers are, well, idiots. I hate to say it but when you read about some of the deals that these folks get caught up in you have to ask yourself "what was he thinking?"

I have seen folks sign up to become owner operators and run for $0.90 a mile. Well, if you can make $0.40 jsut driving the other guy's truck, that leaves you $0.50 to pay for the truck. Think you can do that? If you have to think about this answer you have no business being an owner operator. You should be able to break down your fixed and operating expenses on a per mile and per day basis, and know this data cold.

JB Hunt is a very large company. To control the company they need rules. If you violate the rules and/or procedures bad things are going to happen to you. Do you not understand this? When you sassed your daddy, did he not smack you?

I am convinced that so much of the quality of one's experience with a trucking company depends on the dispatcher that we should first ask to meet our dispatcher before we even sign on. They will make or break your experience.

I can't say enough good things about my time at JB. I loved the company and the job. Good trucks, good mechanics, clean terminals (although not much parking), decent pay, low cost health care, and a great dispatcher. Of course everyone has some comment about working for JB, especially on the radio, but the way to shut them up is to back into some tight parking spot that four other professionals have just bypassed because they knew they would never be able to put the thing in there.

Do your research before you sign up, and by research I dont mean talk to drivers. They are the worst source of info. Actually read the documents they send you. Then go out and do your job. Pick up and deliver on time, and dont turn down loads or ##### about running New England (or whatever). If half of the guys out there would just be on time they would find their dispatchers much more helpful. If the dispatcher doesnt have to be your babysitter I'm guessing you will get better treatment.

Sorry to be crabby, but I am too old to put up with these crybabys. There are some very fine drivers out there, yes even at JB and Swift. And many folks enjoy their jobs. The problem, I suppose, is that somewhere truckers have gotten the idea that the only way to be a pro is to ##### about everything. Some folks will just never learn that if they stop running their mouth and start running their truck life will be more pleasant.

I know I found you kind of late but, honestly, I think your bs. None of the stuff your saying is truthful and most of it is "hype". So for whatever reason you got fired, wich im sure happened, you only speak for yourself, and you must love lying to yourself cause im on sw6 at jb and doing pretty good. Stop thinking your gonna make 100,000 a year because in this business, most company drivers in ANY company only take home about 3,000 a month son.
