Those BMI charts are for the average person. Athletes (especially bodybuilders) are not you average person.

I recall one guy (who's name escapes me now) that was 5'3" tall and weighed 235lbs. Dude was ripped with muscles!

Good (healthy) food really isn't significantly more expensive than junk food. In fact an argument could be made that healthy food is less expensive.

Water is cheaper then soda. Fruits and vegetables are cheaper than meats. Old fashioned oatmeal and grits are cheaper than pancakes and french toast.

Among cheap healthy eats are : kale, collard greens, cabbage, squash, spinach, carrots, celery, grapefruit, apples, bananas, green peppers, tomatoes.

If you buy fresh produce at Walmart (or Farmers markets when possible) and prepare meals in your truck you will not only be healthier but also save a tremendous amount of money over eating at truckstops. It takes effort but is very doable. I know because I have done it. I've lost weight, slept better and saved about $85-100/week doing this.

I ate fresh tomatoes on my salad yesterday. I think I had too many. I got a case of hives.

I ate a hamburger for dinner tonight. No hives.

    Hmmmmmm........

Yes its Primes right to set up rules and regs for their employees. Where discrimination comes in is when EVERYBODY does not have to take the same procedures, if i have to be checked for sleep apnea and spend a nite wired up so does everybody else, thats discrimination! And the so called Quack either has not done a full study or left the part out about hereditary sleep apnea that affects skinny, health nuts or fat people.

1.) I'm not a trucker. I wanted to be at one time but was rejected. See my previous post for reasons. (glad I didn't make it since I ruptured a disc in my neck and was almost paralyzed shortly after rejection. Would have made things MUCH worse than it is now. I'm doing good btw).

2.) I'm not a cook. Never was good at it. I can prepare very simple stuff, but to prepare something that tastes good AND is nutritious...it's somewhat beyond my means, and because I have very limited time now, I rely on frozen prepared meals for quick nutrition. I guess that is why my costs have gone up. If I want to be healthy but cannot afford the time to actually prepare meals myself, then I DO have to pay more for it. This is my gripe.. If you have the time, then sure, it'll be cheaper. I don't, and a LOT of people are in the same boat as me.

EDIT: To give an example, tonight I bought more fruit / veggies, fresh stuff, than I normally do, and didn't buy as much frozen prepared stuff at my local grocery store. Spent the same $100 as I normally do, but actually got less. Not sure how it is in your part of the US, but seems it's not going to help me here.

    No eating in any workplace.
No eating in a public place.
No eating in government and/or office buildings.
No eating around or near children.
    No eating near a school.
    Equal rights?

Would that make you feel better?

    Give 'em time.
    Not exactly.
It's that, statistically, overweight people tend to have more health issues that the insurance companies don't want to insure. Maybe if you declined the health coverage insurance offered they'd be more inclined to hire you. What are the odds that you'll need it?

    Let's see......

If an employer/carrier hires an obese driver.....Let's examine the liability of doing so.....

Obesity leads to a laundry list of health risks....

Diabetes, various cancers, heart disease, stroke, sleep apnea....And so on.....

If that obese driver has a stroke while running and plows into a soccer mom and kids....Guess what....The company might as well just hand the lawyers the keys to the trucks and hold out their arms for the cuffs.....

We live in different times today....Litigious times....

If you want to drive a big truck....Don't be as big as a truck...

Sorry if this offends anyone here....But that's the reality....

Don't give me that deaths for smoking out weigh the deaths from sleep apnea. Smoking also kills the person next to you eating dont. lol

Aftershock very funny. For the record the only time I need to go to the dr is to have DOT check ups.
