BigShrek, that is good advice on the walmart fleetif I was willing to sacrifice the time. I'm not.
Even with roughly 7 months experience I landed a job at Schneider with the same benefits, 3 cents more per mile, and better home time.
With hazmat, tankers, doubles and triples I will have no problem finding work wherever I go. The teammate that I was with for 4 months with the same quals has landed a car hauling job making between $600 and $1200 with benefits. There are better companies out there and yes I've done my research.
The only reason I haven't already started working for Schneider was that Swift didn't get me back home in time for an appt they knew about 3 weeks in advance.
Swift drivers, sound off

Also you'd think that Swift would go out of the way to retain drives that run hazmat, 747, JIT, hot and high value loads. I haven't seen it though, there isn't any scramble for retention of good drivers.

Okay. I dropped a load at the terminal and hook to a t-called load. It feels a lot heavier than the claimed 32K on the drives. Also, the trailer I'm picking up was dropped missing the right side marker light and the inspection out.
There will be no recourse to the driver who dropped it.
I am already tight on hours and I have to sit in line so one of the day cabs can get minor BS done...after someone else has his radio replaced. Yep. There's some important stuff. That Vovlo radio not playing music will get you shut down by DOT. Gotta get that fixed.
Oh, and the day cab guy? When he told the guy checking people in, the shop guy rolled his eyes at the fix complaints. I hope I sound irritated. I am.BigShrek72 and inkeper Thank this. -
Injun Thanks this.

Yup been there and hope your day gets better... -
If the 'puter set it badly, I'd call my DM and she set it back. No problem.
The thing I hate most about Swift is taking the truck in for any kind of service.
I can fairly well count on 4-5 days sitting around every time.
Laredo, for a relay to get the A/C working.
Denver, for a required inspection.
Now in Salt Lake for a B service.
In nearly every case they got to it (almost) right away (Laredo was just plain slow at everything), then found something else that needed fixing. Then I get to wait a few more days while those things get fixed.
It really makes me want to live with problems, because I can't afford otherwise. -

Still in Lathrop! They tried to give me another load home today but this was completely unsafe for flatbed and needed to be in a van. Long story short didn't do it and pissed off my dm and the planners I'm sure but no way would I pull something unsafe.
-
What kind of freight would be unsafe on a flat? Were they trying to get you to haul loose basketballs?
tazaaa Thanks this. -
But, what a bummer. I've been hoping to meet you.
So near, and yet, so far...
