I also think the dump box floor is taller than a skateboard. I would have to figure out a good way to get in and out of the box. I am going to pay a local semi trailer dealer a visit tommorow to see what my options are. I have heard through the grapevine that some guys are doing this around here, just got to figure out their setup. I was really crossing my fingers and trying to find someone on here that does that.
End dumps that haul steel coils

I totally understand, but you may have to go that route for a few months to find some brokers in your area. -
Aluminum step ladder. I have one strapped to my headache rack at all times. -
I figured I would strap a ladder to the truck somewhere, that is just a little problem. Brickman, do you know any good load boards?
-
Truckstop (thats its name), getloaded are probably two of the most common, but if you google search for "load board" you'll bring up a couple more. -
Thanks for the names! I will try to do some research and find some loads to see what they are paying.

There are several things to consider before you go cutting holes in a dump trailer. One is the rib spacing to handle the weight. All dumps are NOT built the same and in some case cutting holes will jeopardize the strength of the trailer especially if it's a frame-less trailer.
ALL dumps can be spec'd out the way you want them. Finding a USED one to meet your needs might be hard. Talk to the trailer manufacturers and NOT the sales people on some lot about this BEFORE you buy any dump trailer thinking you will be able to haul coils. -
Everyone wants a direct haul but few have one that pays good or is solid enough to rely on..... When I use a load board, I factor my bills with Century Finance and get my money less 5% within 24 hours of hauling the load..... I have to pay back the money after 90 days if the loadboard company doesn't pay Century... hasn't happened in the past 2 years as most companies don't want to loose their authority to broker or their credit rating to hender them also.... not too cheap to haul with a dump trailer.... avg. pay $1.75 per mile.....

I was just looking into factoring and got some info from trucker funds> Seems like a pretty good deal as they offer 100% non-recourse, 90% advance, t-chek fuel cards for the same 5%. The only catch I didn't like was the 1 year contract. Although, aside from going out of business if they hold true to the deal that wouldn't be an issue.

haveing hauled coils befor my concern would be the tiedowns for a 46,000 coil it takes at least 7 chains, where ever they mount the tiedown in the trailer where and how strong will it be>>???
