I called and talked to Jose, he was clueless. Doesn't know a thing about oil fields or frac sand... or bulk for that matter. Nor did he know that I (or anyone with a CDL A) can go to any one of the many sand hauling companies with no experience and make more than they are offering.

From what Jose did tell me, it seems that Schneider National is now in the staffing business. Schneider is only recruiting bodies and providing paychecks & HR services, they are not providing power units or trailers.

Just the other night I was talking with a guy and we both we wondering why the mega carriers have not jumped into the oil field business... now it appears that they are, and at rock bottom prices... or at least rock bottom wages.

They will either drive the wages down or steal them from the driver. I'm thinking both.

Yeah, their just trying to catch the wave on that shale play ( Eagle Ford ?) like everyone else. Everyone is crying for vac and sand drivers in that area.....

Brother in law is on the play...as a welder so I had him get me some numbers for those in tears......and made some calls......yeah they want you, you betcha, come now..... so I told them ok, tell me about pay, make it worth my while and I'll be there tomorrow.

Ha! $16.42 hr no o/t. Pft! 4Q's buddy !! So the big dog asks me what it will take.....and let's say he'd rather wait for the Schneider drivers.
( he was very proud of that wage )( Really had to stretch and do some overrides to make that generous offer, he said )

I haven't driven in almost 3 years and just renewed my CDL Class A with tanker and haz-mat. My record is not perfect. I have applied with a few different companies. Schneider seems to be the only one willing to give me a chance to get back into trucking. It seems like a good opportunity for me. :)

I went to a Halliburton job event last week, just for something to do. It wouldn't surpise me if the mega carriers were subcontracting for some driver only duties for Halliburton. HUGE shale oil deposit all the way from Del Rio to La Grange, and 100 miles wide.

Hardly... unions are as corrupt as corporate America. Nope, I'm simply going to sit back and wait for them to reap what they have sown.

I think I must be caught somewhere in between on my beliefs when it comes to economics. Although I believe in capitalism to a certain extent, I think when a corporation such as Microsoft, Walmart, or Google grows to such a gargantuan size that it is able to do whatever it wants... buy what ever it wants... control every aspect of its market--crushing the competition and leaving the bodies in its wake--that's a bad thing.
