Ok I played some more. The ground was being fickle, I made some adjustments and got that to work. I still get the Antenna Warning thing going on, and when I did the system test function it says the Antenna fails. All of my testing this time around was with the Wilson 2000. I was not able to hear anyone on any channel, but switching over to Weather Band I was able to hear the weather report.

    Any ideas??

    Thank you

You need to trim your antenna.

Switch to the swr function and tell us what you are reading on 1 and 40.

Sounds like a problem I had a few years ago. Turned out to be the mic. Replaced it and the problem went away. Those cobra factory mics are junk. I'm not saying this is your problem but it is a possibility.

Try this one on for size. Previous owner of KW W900 installed CB into top portion over the dash. Looks impressive but doesn't work so now I am not so impressed. Tried to get it out and after careful examination it appears the only method for removing this beautiful piece of "artwork" is to disassemble the entire upper panel. Can't get to any plugs to see if any connections are loose or unplugged. All I can do is just idly stare at it and pretend somebody might be able to recognize the artist and name of the piece and offer me a small fortune for it one day. Or maybe I will hit one of those "smooth" roads we travel on and the danged thing will just jar itself out of there.

Interesting witht he 29 LX it has a knob on the front to adjust the SWR, I have it adjusted to right around 1.5 at the highest level. I am not sure if this is normal to be able to adjust the SWR this way or if you have to adjust it with moving that antenna? I am open for ideas on this.

    Thank you

That is just for calibrating. It actually does nothing for adjusting the SWR.

You put the radio on calibrate, turn the SWR knob until the needle is close to the far right side of the meter. (there is a small square were the needle should point) then you switch to SWR and key up the mic on channel 1 and write down the reading, switch to 20 and key the mic and write down the reading, then switch to channel 40 and write down the reading. Come back here and tell us what the readings are on 1, 20 and 40.

Oh and read the manual that came with the radio. It will tell you exactally how to check the SWR.

Folks I am still trying to figure this out, and I know I was asked for the SWR readings and I will get there and post it too.

Someone said something about maybe trying another MIC, does someone have one to recommend that I can get at the Local Truck Stop???

    Thank you

The Mic should have nothing to do with your SWR. It would be from a bad ground, and/or antenna not calibrated. Is your antenna mount grounded to the body? You may need to remove some paint around the mount to get a good ground.

I did have a funky issue with the ground, and I have fixed that and double and triple checked it with a test light to make sure it is working. It seems no matter what I do, I can not get the Antenna Warning to go away.

If I could find someone local to look at this it would be a lot eaiser for me. I have been trying to use google and the yellow pages to find someone, but no luck yet.

    Thank you
