I'd lease on with the Star. I might regret it in six months, but then again, I might not. I just haven't heard that much negative about LS, not in the past, and not in the present. The future may tell a different story, but I think I'd take that risk. This is because if I leased on to LS, I'd know up front what is expected of me, which means I had better never expect the company to "take care of my every need" as though it's my babysitter.
What no one tells you about Landstar...

I don't make the site rules. My job as asked by the owner of this site is to enforce his rules.
If you don't like them, please take them up with him. Feel free to PM him with your concerns. -
I think you are right on.
And the reason wreckless doesn't leave Landstar is because he knows that even with all his complaining and crying he can't find any where else better to go. -
Also tell the drivers about how Landstar came back on the drivers and took money away from them after the government said Landstar was overpaid.
unless the shipper pays it, you won't get it
Thats life in a first come first serve business. One of the hazards of the business.
Also as for agents, there are all kinds of LS agent who do nothing but post loads from broker boards on the LS board and when your trying your best to grab the meat every morning among 100's of other drivers when you call the agent he has to then call the broker which got rid of the load hours before. And up Dung creek you go again.
Guys when you talk to hands that have been with LS for 20+ years, they are on a different contract then you will ever see or hear about. They signed on with LS when LS was the best for Freedom/Money/Respect. They are not looking through the glass you will be or are looking out of.
Is LS a bad company??? Well, it depends what you call a bad company. I would say no, when compared to the rest of the dungy industry we have to deal with. The one thing LS has that no one has been smart enough to copy to date is Freedom to choose. If you have no truck payment or not many bills at home and the wife makes great money, you should have a lot of fun working here. If you have a 1800 truck payment and a 5mpg truck, a house payment, car payments, and 3 or more children, you can still make it here but if your not the best at what you do, you will fail under those circumstances. And before you start on me for the 5mpg truck and 1800 truck payments, it's a long story but I can tell you this, it all started with "VOLVO" and I had no other choices at that point in time.
If a person is "smart" and has a choice you better be driving a truck that will get you 6+ mpg. -
You are hopeless.
Like I said before, since it sucks so badly LEAVE. It is hilarious that you dislike it and tell every one to stay away but stay yourself. -
Midnightrider909 Thanks this.

Wreckless I've got one question for you.
Do you pull a wuss wagon?
If so then all this begins to make sense. No wuss wagons for me, thats why I didn't have the problems you have.
Most of the platform agents do little to no van freight. -

Yup I get it.
