I'd lease on with the Star. I might regret it in six months, but then again, I might not. I just haven't heard that much negative about LS, not in the past, and not in the present. The future may tell a different story, but I think I'd take that risk. This is because if I leased on to LS, I'd know up front what is expected of me, which means I had better never expect the company to "take care of my every need" as though it's my babysitter.

I don't make the site rules. My job as asked by the owner of this site is to enforce his rules.
If you don't like them, please take them up with him. Feel free to PM him with your concerns.

I think you are right on.

And the reason wreckless doesn't leave Landstar is because he knows that even with all his complaining and crying he can't find any where else better to go.

You are correct, because Landstar had a lot of drivers working the hurricanes and left the freight in abundance to those of us who who stayed taking care of the customers. After 2005 it went to eating leftovers from other companies who would pass there freight down they didn't want because we lost all the customers that wasn't getting there freight took care of because of the lack of drivers.

Also tell the drivers about how Landstar came back on the drivers and took money away from them after the government said Landstar was overpaid.

I never stated that the freight didn't get moved I stated 98% of the freight on the board is going to either somewhere it would be very hard to get out of or an undesirable area. Would you like for me to show the forum some fine board examples. The biggest % of our freight is leftover dung that no other trucking company wanted or couldn't get there drivers to take so it is passed on to LS Agents. We have more freight going into FL, NJ,MA,VT,PA,NY,DC,RI, than JB, Schneider, and Swift put together. And guess what getting out of them states with any money left in your pocket is a miracle in MOST CASES.

It would take a New York Lawyer a week to understand the contract you sign.

Yea, that is what you do. You see Forum, when you run it on your pc miler to see how much you are actually getting paid and then figure if you can take it, the load is gone by the time you get one city/state entered into the pc miler. So yea if you have a pc miler program built into your head you would do great in this area.

I agree, but the thing is guys, when the fuel is not broke out on the form that you can save on your computer as a document to support what the agent said what happens is some of the agents drop the fuel some or all and then say it never had a fuel surcharge and Landstar ask you if you have any proof....

Like you said if and when the shipper pays it. That means most times you foo barred. And believe me Landstar will not look bad at the shipper when they don't.

unless the shipper pays it, you won't get it

It ain't me!!! My last two Dr's couldn't even fill the paperwork out on my physical well enough to suit LS. The last one was at the point of asking me to leave after they faxed LS 3 times. The first one was asked to sign a waiver to give me a 2 year physical because I had high blood pressure one time in my life and he said forget it I am done, here is a one year physical I am not dealing with this and I don't have the time.

I am never rude to them unless they are rude first. Not all of them are this way but they are a lot of them that are.

If your going to deliver Friday to Atlanta and you set the load matcher to find you a load for that day you will get loads emailed to you for weeks past Friday and sometimes even months. And in places like Atlanta it can be in the hundreds. One addition to the load matcher if you don't have a wife sitting at home in front of the computer or reading emails going down the road or unlimited minutes on your phone your are up dung creek with getting a decent or good paying load. And the latter two are very dangerous so what do you do??? You know it's true. If you could only set the load matcher like you do the LS Online board and set the date with on/on or before/after the emails would be a lot fewer. I am very computer literate.

There again, I didn't say it was there fault, I was stating the hard things about LS that people don't tell you.

Thats life in a first come first serve business. One of the hazards of the business.

Yea, I was bumping the 70hr rule as well in 2005. I think we already agreed on that up above. I started writing down the bad agents and you know the book just kept filling up and I gave up. I know the agents who cost me a lot of money and they stay in my head. I gave up on all the small time offenders.

Also as for agents, there are all kinds of LS agent who do nothing but post loads from broker boards on the LS board and when your trying your best to grab the meat every morning among 100's of other drivers when you call the agent he has to then call the broker which got rid of the load hours before. And up Dung creek you go again.

I have already stated my reasons for staying with LS. Guess you need to re-read my post. In my experience with talk forums I have learned that they are great to get different opinions from different people. I would not consider my post "moaning" rather "informative" for those who are not told the "FACTS" about LS. I also am a grown man and I don't need you to tell me what I need to do.

Guys when you talk to hands that have been with LS for 20+ years, they are on a different contract then you will ever see or hear about. They signed on with LS when LS was the best for Freedom/Money/Respect. They are not looking through the glass you will be or are looking out of.

Is LS a bad company??? Well, it depends what you call a bad company. I would say no, when compared to the rest of the dungy industry we have to deal with. The one thing LS has that no one has been smart enough to copy to date is Freedom to choose. If you have no truck payment or not many bills at home and the wife makes great money, you should have a lot of fun working here. If you have a 1800 truck payment and a 5mpg truck, a house payment, car payments, and 3 or more children, you can still make it here but if your not the best at what you do, you will fail under those circumstances. And before you start on me for the 5mpg truck and 1800 truck payments, it's a long story but I can tell you this, it all started with "VOLVO" and I had no other choices at that point in time.

If a person is "smart" and has a choice you better be driving a truck that will get you 6+ mpg.

You are hopeless.

Like I said before, since it sucks so badly LEAVE. It is hilarious that you dislike it and tell every one to stay away but stay yourself.

Wreckless I've got one question for you.

Do you pull a wuss wagon?

If so then all this begins to make sense. No wuss wagons for me, thats why I didn't have the problems you have.

Most of the platform agents do little to no van freight.
