Read my post above this one you made. Because of the type of freight I chose to haul I did not have the problems you do.

Yea, I pull a wagon not a wuss wagon. I am able to go around with clean clothes and look respectable for my customers. Not with a sleevless shirt, flip flops, and dirt covering my hair to my feet. You know what I mean, the typical "Flatbedder"????

You may be right. And I only made the comment about flatbedders because of the rude comment you made about pulling a van.

Nope I do not know what you mean.

I don't wear flipflops, sleeveless shirts and I shower regularly. And I looked respectable for my customers as well.

Wuss wagon drivers for the most part have the worst reputations from what I've seen. Maybe not at LS, but certainly across the board from other companies.

Most LS drivers are clean and very respectable even the flattbedders.

I respectfully disagree, the flattbedders for the most part are the most dirty and stinking truck drivers across the board exept LS and Mercer not that the van group is much better. A lot of truck drivers are nothing but trailer trash because most are recruited out of projects ect... Landstar is by far the toughest company to get on with and I hope they make it tougher but they are getting easier and easier to get on with. There are even advertising on TV now???? We don't have enough freight now and they think they need more drivers???? Well, I guess they do need drivers to haul to the north east since they can't get us to haul it for 2.50-3.00 pm. But even the newbies only get burnt once or twice after they haul there including Fl, Laredo,TX, NM,AZ,MT,NE,WA,OR, if you get the point.

Brickman, I would think as a moderator you would not make offensive comments like calling the van fleet "wuss wagon pullers". You really sound like a "Chicken Hauler" and that is very unusual for LS. And you get offended by me saying the ch i tt word???? You confuse me... Most of us here at LS are proffesional drivers, we look it, talk it, and act it. Now I am going to my race car forums where I can talk about things I really enjoy, and that is not talking about work. And I can say the itt word all I want...LOL Happy trails.....

Freight runs in cycles. Always has, probably always will.

    First I heard about this.

    ]
I think if you REALLY figured up the freight going to those undesirable places it is no where close to 98%.

Thats not LS's problem. The court system will not rule in your favor on a law suit with that excuse as a defense.

I kept my laptop mileage program open and already had the miles figured by the time I called the agent on a load.

    True enough.

unless the shipper pays it, you won't get it

Tools of the job require more minutes on the phone. Its all in how you work your business.

Thats life in a first come first serve business. One of the hazards of the business.

70 hr rule got in my way ALL the time. Not just 2005.

True enough, but not every company is perfect. LS does have a complaint department on that regard.

Life is not perfect, neither is LS. But they are certainly better than many many other companies.

I could post you some of my load payment numbers, but I don't want to make you jealous. I've got a good friend still with LS that pulls a wuss wagon. I would never drive for the rates he does. At times my weekly pay to the truck would be twice what he was doing with a van.

I left and sold my truck because I wanted out of OTR, nothing else. LS begged me to stay with them.

Think about the reason why van freight is so cheap. Its so easy that any body can do it. Mind numbingly boring, sit there all day holding the steering wheel. Sit and wait to load, sit and wait to unload.... sit sit sit sit sit. Very little action. There is massive competition with many many companies pulling van. Competition forces prices to drop.

Like I told you before, I don't make the rules. But I am asked to enforce them. If you don't like the site rules take it up with the site owner "WiseOne".
I'm not offended by the S word, or the F word or the rest of them. I can keep up with a sailor in that department. :D

I accept your criticism of my name for wagon drivers. I mostly do it to make fun of them, and then when they get unhappy about it, then its all the more fun.
I'll work on it. I'm no chicken hauler!

I've pulled vans for a couple weeks. No challenge (compared to securing freight and hauling OD loads), mind numbingly boring etc. But hey I'm glad some body likes to pull that cheap freight because I like to eat and enjoy the other goodies at the stores just as much as any body does. Thanks for being willing to give up revenue to pull a wagon.

If you want to consider this as you proving your point about LS, then by all means I will let it be and let the forum members decied for themselves. At least now the forum members have another view point from the Van Side of LS. A view point from someone who IS still with LS and knows the CURRENT condition of the company.

Wow I've been reading this and keeping up with you two and from the outside it's kinda funny. dont ya'll think that you guys could play the card of "cant we all just get all?" I must admitt that what you guys were debating about was actually kind of informative for the rest of us. Mainly that if you're going to drive for LS your better to drive a skate board around than a wagon.

You think in 16 years of trucking and yes I started at 18 in the military before you ask, that I have not done my share of pulling flats??? This debate is done and I will not get into a pissing match with you and let the insults start flying. Your profile says you been trucking for 5 years and yet your full of answers. Like I have said, "Happy Trails" I am going to www.streetcarforums.com you can find me there if you want to debate Chevy's and Fords. I can debate you all night on that one. I will say this LS flat freight only accounts for a small % of there freight volume. The van freight has much higher volume and I can't see any difference in the rates unless your pulling a specialized trailer. Only more dirt,dirt,dirt.......... How does them fingers feel pulling that tarp in -10 degree weather??? I need mine for my transbrake on the weekends.
