The New FFE Driver Academey

What hotel do they put you up in? Does someone pick you at the bus station or do you get there on your own?

 

Get yourself to your local greyhound and the rest is taken care of. A shuttle will pick you up from the Ft Worth station and take you to the academy. If there is a room available then you stay on academy property. (get yourself a subway sandwich at the Ft worth greyhound station for dinner, as there are very few options) there is a Sonic and a store about a half mile walk from the academy. There are vending machines but you need dollar bills and quarters so bring A LOT of small bills! A roach coach comes by m-f around 11:30 sometimes sat, sometimes in the evening. don't count on it! Food is not that great.

If the academy is full then they will take you to a Country Inn and Suites a few miles away, they pay and you will be rooming with another student. They have a great breakfast buffet fast wi-fi, pool and hot tub. The hotel shuttle will bring you to school in the morning and back in the evening. Enjoy the hotel if you are lucky enough to go there, it wont last long and you will be in the dorm. Note: All female students stay in the hotel the entire time.

Dont get me wrong the Dorm is nice, however the hotel is GREAT!
Also 2 times a week here is a shuttle to Walmart so you can get provisions and you get about 30 min to shop.

I suggest to buddy up with a few people and take a cab to Wally, then you can eat some fast food, walk around and shop at your leisure, its a needed break and well worth the 10 bucks for cab fare.

SMOKERS!!!!!!!!!!! Bring a carton with you if you can!! wally is expensive, the store next to Sonic is cheap, as well as the 7-11 by the hotel.

 

Playmaker, Were the folks on the backing range burning up?

When it got hot they would haul out a big tent and provide coolers full of gatorade and water. Hope they continue to do that, it made it bearable.

 

how about training for snow conditions? do they teach you how to properly install chains?

Do those test also go for those who still have their CDL Lic.? I kept mine up to date, Hazmat has expired, but tanker is still good. Also does FFE pay book miles or road miles?

 

yea, i got mine and they told me all ill be doing is a refreshment instead of the whole 2 weeks.

 

So for the refresher it isn't 2 wells. How long is it the refresher and what is involved. Anyone else starting on the 30th of June.

 

the refresher course starts on thursday instead of monday, like the ones that dont have a cdl. im trying to get in by then, still waiting for a appointment for a drug and physical test out here.
