Anyone can call Horizon Leasing at 800-887-8614 and ask if a brand new driver can lease to own a used truck. The contract you sign says "lease agreement." There are no variable miles.

You can lease for any term you want, up to 72 weeks. At the end of the lease, you get the title for the truck.

Ronin any many others on this forum are hell bent on spreading bad information about CRE and make them out to be some kind of mafia.

At a time when many people are out of work and losing their homes, Ronin's misinformation is inexcusable. If you are hard working and have half a brain in your head, CRE is an option to consider

Sounds like recruiter babble. Keep going.

Anyone who could qualify for that last arrangement would be foolish to do so - it would be much easier, and a whole world cheaper, to buy a truck from a dealer or private individual and lease the truck to England, or whichever carrier they choose.

CREs options exist for people who can't do that on their own, or are too new to the business to take the leap. I did it because I believed a friend and his wife were doing well, the company my wife and I were with lost several major contracts and miles went in the toilet....I later find out they weren't doing well and couldn't work a calculator to save his life. Lesson learned, and life's lessons create experience.

Amazing how when people are in the crapper, they'll still tell big stories of success... and it's understandable, to a point - it's a pride thing. You don't want anyone to know you're not amazingly successful. Like renting a Cadillac to go to your high school reunion, and leaving your 12 year old Chevrolet at home.

I have not uttered (or written) one word of misinformation. To keep trying to discredit me simply proves my point on your hogwash, for use of a more politically correct term.

One has to ask.... if you're running all those miles, I mean I've teamed for 6000 miles in a week... my wife and I have broken 8k in a week a couple of times (certainly not with CRE) - it's tough, sleep is critical... you sure have a lot of time and composure you copy and paste your info out of the CRE training and leasing manuals, don't you?

If I was running those miles, I'd want to spend every non-driving moment trip planning or sleeping... instead of posting a gillion posts on a trucking forum where you're acting like a company recruiter, trying to get more people to join you, with no gain to you? Why would you be so foolish, if all you say its true?

From a real perspective, save your life and that of your trainee, plus the other motorists on the road.... ease up on the cheerleading and get some ###### sleep.

As I understood it, I work here too,, You have to put at least $7000 down as a downpayment if you lease purchase & I was told, unless its changed you have to do a 6 month demo lease first, has this now changed?

You may not be an exception, but I'm pretty sure that you're not the average C.R.E. trainee either. So far, your explanation as to how well you're doing, compared to most who describe their C.R.E. adventure much differently, has been that the key is to provide one's dispatcher with a list of 10 reasons why said dispatcher should give you only the best loads.
So simple, even a cave man could do it.

10 Reasons Why I Should Get the Best Loads

    1. I got 93 percent on my phase 2 drivers test and 95 percent on the written test.

    2. I can close the door on the truck and consistently drive 600+ miles on a shift.

    3. I will notify you immediately if I am running late.

    4. I will never turn down a load. If you have a bad load that nobody will take, call me first. I won't complain.

    5. I will never send smack on the Qualcomm. I wil handle disagreements with you on the phone or face-to-face.

    6. I will send you a free-form status update every day before 07:00 MST.

    7. I am well groomed and I make a good impression on customers.

    8. I have a light truck with a moveable 5th wheel. I can put 45,000 pounds inthe box and scale with a co-driver and full fuel.

    9. I keep my tractor clean and very well maintained.

    10. I have a young family to support and I am completely committed to doing the best job that I can...

You don't need to do the demo lease first. The down payment is a moving target. They recently were selling Centuries for $3,500 down. You can also reduce or eliminate the down payment with award points.

I put $8,000 down in order to get the $600 per week I was looking for over 72 weeks. I paid $52,000 for the truck. The best price I could find on the same truck outside of CRE was $70,000.

They don't always have trucks for sale. However, you can talk them into selling you a demo truck if you try hard enough...

In my observations, CRE has a policy of "Feed the eagles and starve the turkeys"

My DM told me that out of 75 drivers, only 4 consistently send her daily status reports. In my opinion, she has 4 eagles and 71 turkeys. What would you do if you were in her shoes?

The good news as far as I'm concerned is that it's easy to be an eagle at CRE...
