It's got the common "H" pattern and has a "c" upper left and "R" lower left.

Then it'a "1" upper right and "2" lower right and then it dog legs to the right, and up for "3".

    It got two clickers.

A high one and a low one.

I don't know why they call it a 14 speed.

It' the common transmission behind the "Volvo" Engine.

    Fluid clutch.

Thank's for any help you can provide.

I'm an old pro but this one has me stumped.

I think it's very difficult until you learn the proper procedure, then it's probably pretty good.

This truck has very high geared rear ends also so these shifts have got to be perfect.

That is a synchro box. You are going to be clutching on every shift. Cant float them, it will destroy the delicate synchros, and will refuse to go into the hole.

Those buttons are a range shift and a splitter >

i think as well no double clutching--as well as no floating---just shift it like a car---or it will rip up the tranny real quick--i printed off the directions once for a driver --after the tranny had been repaired again---it was a whole small book
i never drove it other than a road test bobtailing--but seemed to shift very nice

What does the "C" represent? Crawler, creeper or something? Or is that Swedish for low?

Do you still have that book. Maybe I could find it online if I knew the name.
    Thanks

I have been double clutching for 50 years. I'm glad you told me no double clutching. I do know that this synchronized tranny will break if not shifted properly. That book would be the tell all.

Valuable information guys, thanks. -- My take is to shift it like you would a sports car. Definite solid one clutch shifts, one two in each hole on bottom side and then again for the top three, twice each for 12. Then the same thing reversed and down for downshifting.

No "floating" or "jumping gears" and "no double clutching" or "shopping for a gear".

"Or that's what you will be doing to the tune of many thousands of dollars plus downtime".

    "Buying Gears"!

Methodical, solid shifting with no fancy stuff.

Just like a sports car but with clickers for the hi lo in each hole, twice.

Tricky as hell but I'll learn this perfectly in the next week or so when the old truck gets road ready.

    Thanks again.
