let me start this by saying that i should have known better, but i was young, dumb and full of my self. the truck payment was only $301.62 a week.

this little adventure of crst oweing me money has been going on since june 14,2007.(the day that i quit) i thought i did enough home work on these guys but i guess i didnt even come close. my orientation was for 3 days in their cedar rapids,ia terminal, which during their 3 days they preached that for everyday that we set we appx. loose like $250 a day between fuel and food and all put together, they also preached to us about turning down loads and sitting and waiting for the next load. after orientation i was sent to oklahoma city,ok terminal to pickup my truck, which the truck was in really nice shape for a 2005 freight shakkkkkker, new rubber all the way around it,nice body,no dents, bangs or nothing bad. so i called into dispatch after i inspected my truck and was told by ryan dollmeyer(dipatch) to dead head to from the okcity,ok terminal to monoon,in to pickup a new mty trailor at .45 cents a mile. i was only going to be around 100 miles or so from chicago. (all drivers know their is freight year round comeing in and out of that place.) so i got to monoon,in and was told by the company that makes the trailors that they havent had ANY crst trailors for more than 2 weeks because crst wouldnt send any "special" tires to them that they wanteded on the trailors. so i bob-tailed back to the pilot truck stop on I-65 and called weekend dispatch at this time. they told me that they would try to find me a load call back in about an hour. (sorry should have written their names down) So i called back and they told me that their was no freight in that area that i would have to wait until sunday (the next morning) then call in again and see if they had anything. i was already mad by this time so i went to bed to cool off. the next morning it was the same thing just wanting me to keep calling back in a hour to see if they had anything. that evening when i called in evening dispatch said ," no trailor no load for you." and i told them that i wasnt that far from chicago and i know their is freight comeing out of their!! and their reply was," well if you dont like it than quit." i said,"cool, see you in a little while!" so i packed up my stuff and headed back to cedar rapids,ia. luckily i had $100.00 in my pocket because when i told them i would see them in a little while they turned those fuel cards off.:biggrin_25516:

i guess the moral of the story is you had better check those company's (all companys) out b-4 you go with any company. but that is my experience. lesson learned for me:biggrin_25512:

So was this the FLEECE purchase?

If so you learned a very valuable lesson, NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER NEVER fleece purchase a truck from any trucking company. When the same company that your truck is financed thru controls your loads there is too much power in their hands, and very very little in yours.

yep learned a very important lesson. just say NO kids!!:biggrin_25519:

i was so aggervated that i forgot the money. when i talked 2 ryan today that i am not going to be reimbursed for bobtailing from okcity,ok to indiana. so that is just a plain bad experience with them:biggrin_2554::biggrin_25518::biggrin_2552:

If all you lost is some time, fuel money, and .45CPM for dead heading, then count yourself very lucky. Just think how much you could have lost had you stayed a few months.

Don't be suprised if you see a certified letter in the mail detailing a week's lease, mileage and fuel charges, insurance, wear and tear, and anything else they can think up.

You may end up owing around $1000.00 for that weekend, or more if they decide to charge you for training.

In Wisconsin you have three days to back out of a contract.

The last report from some o/o friends at CRST is that only 12% of lease drivers there are completing their contract. Sad thing is that if you had refused to B/T at .45 per mile they would have probably bumped you to .80. Thats what my friends are telling me atleast. Also about the only way you can make good money from what I see is to train students. What do you think your truck is going to be like when you pay it off at about 1mil miles, most of witch where to train students. Can you say overhaul.

If you were stupid enough to go anywhere for .45 cpm then you got what you deserve. We are doing a lease purchase whith CRST and have been here for 18 month. We grossed $177,000 in 9 months with them last year and are going to exceed that this year.

Too many wannabe owner operators let a company push them around. We stick to our guns as to where we run and how much a load must pay before we haul it. We ran 134,000 miles last year in those 9 months but when we did move it paid us well to do so.

We have no serious complaints about CRST other then the normal crap you have with any company.
