Actually, I've been in China, and there are more cell phones there than in the US. I've been told the same about India [every stray dog has a cell phone in India].

I guess they don't report crimes as we do here, so it won't show in any record.:biggrin_2551:

Sorry to pick nits, but the Constitution does not give us the right to have guns. It recognizes the preexisting right and bars government infringement of that right.

Sorry for the off topic post, but this is an issue that I am passionate about.

You just confused the crap out of me. If it recognizes our preexisting rights....rights that preexisted from what, and it keeps the government from infringing on those rights, then how does that not give us the right to bear arms???:biggrin_25511::biggrin_25511:

I believe you may be thinking of the 14th amendment. The 4th is concerning unreasonable search and seizure.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programing.

If you are truly interested in discussing the topic, I will gladly start a thread in the politics forum. I don't want to derail this thread more than I already have.

In my opinion they wear fatigues because they are on a power trip. I think it should be against the law for any police officer to wear military type fatigues unless they are on some type of undercover work in the bush. I usually see this in small towns, and any backwoods bumpkin can be a Sheriff's deputy. I personally know one that can barely count his own digits. The Sheriff answers only to the Governor of his State. Even the State police cannot over rule him or her. Be careful whenever dealing with a Sheriff and his deputy's. This may vary by state, but I know it holds true in one southern state, for my uncle was the commander of the state police there.
I think you got lucky that the CHP showed when they did.

If that were true then his behavior would not have changed when the real cops showed up.

Contact a lawyer ASAP. Cops cannot detain you for a drug search, because someone said you were dealing. Sue sue sue! Get the report, get the informants name, and while your at it, sue them as well.
